I'm still alive in mine as well. I'm taking New England at home vs. Miami. If you've already used the Pats, the Jets at home vs. Buffalo looks pretty solid, but I'm saving the Jets for their home game next week vs. SF.

I tried to lay out a tentative plan through week 8, and felt the Jets were the best play for next week. Last week I had the Packers bookmarked as the play, and decided to change to the Eagles. Glad I did... that game took a chunk of players out. We're down to 116, started with 408. Packers responsible for a lot of them with the losses to the Giants and Bears. Still a long ways to go, though.

Pats will be a popular pick this week, but LOTS of people used them in week 2 vs. Arizona.

Trends welcome? :D

Since '97 the League is:

12-0 SU (11-1 ats...Av. win 22.4!!!)when an undefeated home team plays a team without a win!

Had Atlanta beat Arizona this season (the only ats loss), and Seattle over San Fran.

This week we have Jets (-6.5), and New England (-13).

Besides that, I'd have to think that Seattle would be a fairly safe pick.

Good luck guys.

I tried to sneak by with Balt in my pool but fell. I would have made it into the final 6 of 30 starting players. GB also took down lots of our players especially vs Bears in Week 2.

I was set to play NE this week and would have been looking good with 3 of the other 5 survivors having already used NE. MR C, Pats would definitely be my play if you still have them available. I think a good underdog play to try and sneak thru would be San Diego if you are so inclined to take more risk.

Just did a bit more digging:

League: 2-29 SU!! (Av. loss 10.8) away 3+ dog, total <40, off 7+ ats loss as a home 7- dog. [Buff] (since '98)

and...if their opp was last 7- fav...they are 1-22 SU since 1989.

AND....
League: 16-1 SU (av. win 16.5) home 7+ fav, total >42 off a bye. [Seattle]
...(This is one of GM's system plays....also 13-4 over...team averages ~35 ppg!!)

NYJ/Seattle teaser anyone? ;)

Good info, especially thanks to Mr.C
I've used New England, and I'm thinkin Jets next week(next week looks tough, Jets host SF, but play NE the following week...look ahead? Following week is tough, thinkin Seattle. Also don't see another opportunity for Indy for awhile.)
So I will probably go with Indy, someone try to talk me out of it.

I think the problem people get into in Suicide Pools is they want to "save up" the best teams. In theory, if you have a team that you like to definitely win then you can save NE. To me, though, if you have an almost sure-fire winner such as NE this week, you should take the opportunity. It's good to map out at the beginning of the season, but as teams change (i.e. Atlanta, GB, Tenn this year), then I think it's best to survive by choosing the best team/opportunity you have remaining without worrying about next week.

Just my opinion, though.

A few thoughts:

NE-don't waste them this week. They're the best team; the trump card. Use them now and you won't have the upper hand.

Indy-normally I'd say hold but scheduling wise, it might be a good time to use them. A bye next week then some fairly tough games after that.

Denver-big home field advantage and this year's Panther team is no Super Bowl team.

Dallas-not sold on the Giants. They've beaten weak opposition under favorable circumstances and now try to win 2nd straight on road.

SF-not for the faint of heart. This is their Super Bowl; you cannot pass up a home game against Arizona. Cards have no worry about a winless season; SF has the urgency here.

Don't waste the Jets this week, either. They have a home game next week against the Niners and are a solid pick then.

I tend to look at bad teams first, and not worry about using up a good team.
That said, I do look ahead a few weeks to try not use up a team that has an easier game or need them in a tough week, like last week(10 road favs).
Good info in this thread, jump in anyone who wants.
