Going ahead and jumping on MSU now... They have had 2 weeks to prepare for this game and I believe UK blew their wad last week... UK will be without QB Smith and that is a big advantage for MSU, who is +13 in TO Margin... A lot of people are judging MSU by the way they've looked the past 2 games... Don't... MSU played very vanilla in those 2 games and played a lot of younger guys to give them experience and add depth for later in the year... Plus Russell was playing with a banged up wrist... Maybe cruncher can fill us in more on UK...

Great points. We have already seen UK blown out this year and lose in OT at home to WKU. GL

I'd be careful here guys. Number 1, WKy is a pretty darned good football team; if I'm not mistaken (even tho they lost like 35-0) they held Alabama to around 330yds total offense. That being out of the way, this will be one of the few chances Kentucky has for a conference win, and they are one desperate football team. If the talent gap is not too great, which I don't think it is...Ky is still pretty young tho...neither team rarely blows the other out.

The biggest difference between these 2 right now is the strength of schedule played. The only 'good' team State has played is Auburn, and that may be a stretch with the year they are having, while Ky has had to bang heads with the likes of Louisville, Florida, and So Carolina. I've watched this series for a long time and personally thought State would open anywhere from a 3.5 to 4.5 favorite. I've actually got Ky winning by 4 but the big difference In SOS can distort my ratings somewhat. But I was shocked to see it at 10.

The loss of Smith at QB could be a big one for the Cats, but I was really impressed with Whitlow, the freshman that took over last game after Smith went down. His only problem is experience but is a pretty quick learner I've heard. In addition, he brings something to the table that Smith never can, scrambling ability; and he throws a really nice ball also and has a quick release and can play more than one position. Kinda reminds me of Randall Cobb.I have been really impressed with him especially considering his inexperience.

Corley brings up a good point with the turnover thing tho; difference of 19 with +13 for State and -6 for Ky; if that trend holds Ky won't stand a good chance, but who would?

I'm one of those guys that tends to underestimate their team rather than overestimate; and to be completely honest the 10points look really good. But I haven't seen the Bulldogs play tho.

Good points cruncher...

Also, I would say MSU is more experienced than UK... UK is playing a lot of freshmen... A lot of these MSU players played up there last year

I should add Corley, before I got to running off at the mouth, I decided to do a predicted score for the game, and I ended up getting State winning by 33-21.

Sometimes there can be a big difference between my Team Rating and Predicted Score when there is such a big difference in SOS. And your so right, State does have a big advantage in experience.

But rarely, when these two go at it, has the winning team won by more than 7 points.....both need or want it so bad.

Ky did shoot its wad maybe with SC, but they need a win real bad, and I don't think they will quit. I wish Smith was going to be available but that Whitlow kid is going to surprise some people, write it down! Ky's best DL, Cobble should be back for this game also.

Joker and staff should be back next year, Imo, no matter how the rest of the year goes, but their not going to take anything for granted!

Should be an interesting game my friend. You, me, and Cie will hook up in New Orleans sometime...I've drank a swimming pool or 2 of whiskey over the years, so be prepared.

Well, I doubt it, but I did manage to do 3 miles on the treadmill today under 50 minutes, probably the only thing that has kept me alive over the years along with the carrot, apple, and celery juice, according to my brother...:)...but Cie and I will give it our best!

Corley, how much do you think State is looking forward to Tennessee coming in? Me personally hope State blows KY out so I can get on Tennessee next week. Thoughts?

I don't think they are at all... From what I've heard, they are fired up and ready to play... I think you see them show their true strength this weekend.
