I have only posted a few times but will be contributing for the remainder of the season. This is a great message board and I look forward to making some $$ with you guys! Input is always appreciated.

Thursday

UCLA +26

Does Oregon have one of the most explosive offenses in the country? Yes. Are they the best team in the nation? No chance! Should they be favored by 26 points against an average UCLA team? Not in my opinion. Oregon is 6-0 this season but after looking at their schedule, it's not terribly impressive. 3 of the 6 wins are against New Mexico, Washington State and Portland State. Those victories mean absolutely nothing to me. They struggled in the first half of the Tennessee, Arizona State and Stanford games before coming back to win. This Oregon team has speed, depth and talent but they have yet to play 4 quarters of solid football against even a decent team. Yes, they are at home tonight and the place will be rocking but UCLA knows they have to run the ball and keep their defense off the field if they want any chance to be competitive. Expect running back Jonathan Franklin to be heavily involved for the Bruins tonight and although I'm not predicting the biggest upset of the year, UCLA should be able to stay within the large 26 point spread. UCLA is very up and down (beating Texas on the road and getting beat handily by Cal two weeks later) but they should play with a lot of passion tonight on a nationally televised stage.

UGA -200 (ML)

This spread/ml surprised me a bit, which is why this is my favorite play in Week 8. All of a sudden UGA is getting respect with a 3-4 (2-3) record. They are on a two game winning streak with very solid :)shrug: ) wins over powerhouses Tennessee and Vanderbilt. They are 0-3 on the road this season. Kentucky is coming off a huge win against a team that UGA previously lost to (S. Carolina). All these factors play against the Dawgs, but the fact they are favored by 4 points ON THE ROAD makes me really like them in this spot. The key to UGA is two words: confidence and belief. AJ Green is one player (an excellent one) but since his return they have played much more confident football. They slipped up in the second half against Colorado but since then they have looked like a new football team. Green opens up the entire field for QB Aaron Murray. Murray now has so much more confidence in players such as Kris Durham, Orson Charles and Tavarres King. Yes, RB Caleb King is out but that may actually be a good thing. Washaun Ealey ran very well last week and he knows this is his best chance for success. The defense seems to be playing more freely as they are still adjusting to the 3-4 scheme. Belief is the other word I mentioned. All of a sudden the SEC East is wide open. These Georgia players believe that this game is a huge swing game and will determine not only there SEC fate but also if they will be making a bowl game. Add that with the fact Kentucky won in Athens last year and I think UGA ML is a very solid play. Some people might say "Why not take them -4?". There is a high likelihood that this will be very close into the 4th quarter and I'm not going to let a Blair Walsh game winning FG beat me.

Oklahoma -145 (ML)

Oklahoma has played two ranked opponents this season Florida State and Texas (they aren't currently ranked but were at the time). The Sooners dismantled Florida State and handled Texas. This is the 7th game of the year for Oklahoma and it will be there FIRST true road game. Wow! Nationally televised, top ranking, undefeated -- looks very similar to the Buckeyes last weekend. NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND! Bob Stoops will have his team prepared for a Missouri team, that in my opinion will be considered to be very overrated in the next 2-3 weeks. They have yet to play a Top 25 team this season and although they played very well at Texas A&M last weekend, this will be an entirely different challenge. Landry Jones, Demarco Murray and Ryan Broyles will be to much for Mizzou and although I think it should be an entertaining games, the Sooners will pull it out. Look in future weeks for the Sooners if you want potential road blocks. After this win is when they will get even more exposure and become more cocky -- @TX A&M and @Baylor will be just as dangerous if not more for the Oklahoma Sooners.

Good luck :toast:

Wisconsin +6

Wisconsin heads on the road for the 2nd time of the Big 10 season to take on a solid Iowa team. The Badgers are coming off there best performance of they year, beating #1 ranked Ohio State. Wisconsin and Iowa are VERY similar football teams! Ricky Stanzi and Scott Tolzien are both steady quarterbacks, they both utilize power running games and both teams have great defenses.

A couple of important factors to consider:

1) In big games, Ricky Stanzi is turnover prone. He only has two interceptions this season, which is a major improvement but this will be the toughest defense he has faced this season.

2) Adam Robinson is playing very well for the Hawkeyes but they have NO depth at this position due to injuries.

3) Iowa's FG kicker is a true freshman. He is 3/4 (75%) this season which seems fine, right? His longest made FG is 30 yards! This will be a defensive struggle and points will be at a premium. I don't trust Iowa's kicking game!

4) This game is at Iowa, which is a very tough place to play but this factor may actually help Wisconsin focus more and use there normal ball control offense to try and take the crowd out of the game.

In my eyes, these teams are almost exactly equal with even a slight edge going to Wisconsin, so I will gladly take the six points!

LSU +7 (buy 1pt)

LSU/Auburn should be one of the more entertaining Week 8 match-up's and I see this one going right down to the wire. Cam Newton has been very impressive this season but he has yet to face a great/physical defense. LSU faced a team that is somewhat similar to Auburn earlier this season (W. Virginia) and held them to 14 points. Auburn is very explosive but the LSU Tigers will pressure Newton and force him into bad decisions. Many of the marquee SEC games this season have been much more high scoring than in previous years and although Auburn put up a whopping 65 points last weekend, points will be MUCH harder to come by tomorrow. Field position and special teams will play a large part in this game and I think LSU will win this battle. The raucous Auburn atmosphere won't be much different than what LSU faced @ Florida a couple of weeks ago and although I'm not a Les Miles fan, he will keep his team in it until the end.

Notre Dame -255 (ML)

I hate laying this type of number on a 4-3 Fighting Irish team but this will be a solid play. Navy has lost 2 games by a combined 11 points (Maryland and Air Force) but they have yet to play a team with the overall talent/skill level as the Fighting Irish. The option has given Notre Dame some trouble in the past but I see the Irish wearing down Navy as the game gets into the 2nd half and eventually taking over. Notre Dame knows they need this game to keep there season going in the right direction and suffered a very tough loss to this same team last season. Not sure how much the Irish will win by, but I definitely expect them to get the win and improve to 5-3

Cal -170 (ML)

California reminds me of my g/f - I can never f'ing figure them out!! Last week, they are 2.5 point underdogs at USC and get blown out of the water. They are 0-3 on the road and 3-0 at home. I'm not putting much into last week because USC is a team that Cal just can't beat. For some reason, they just don't match up well with the Trojans. Tomorrow should be a different story. Arizona State has actually exceeded expectations so far this season but this is the type of game they will lay an egg. Cal should have just enough offensive fire power to get past the Sun Devils. Look for Shane Vareen to put up 100+ yards and a couple touchdowns on this overly aggressive ASU defense.

Good luck :toast:

Couple halftime plays:

Michigan State -3.5
Texas -11

Both of these teams will play MUCH better in the 2nd half.
