Been very cold lately.....

Memphis (-2.5) over UAB
Blazers off 3 straight loses, go into Memphis territory, where the tigers play well (beat UTEP). National stage for D Williams against a poor Blazer defense. This will be the 3rd game for QB Avery. He has shown the ability to run and pass and his play has opened up more holes for Williams. Injuries have hit the tigers but they will have all their starters for tonights game. Only concern is a terrible Tiger defense but the home field advantage should help their play step up. The pass defense needs to show up because Hackney can throw. Still the Blazers struggle on the road. Looking for a lot of Williams and home field to be enough tonight. UAB beat Memphis in alabama last year so a little revenge in mind tonight. Memphis is 6-2 in November in the last 2 years. Tigers are 7-1 on November 1st since WWII. Think these teams are going to battle but the edge on offense is with the tigers and both teams struggle on defense. Penalties have also hit the Blazers this season.

Louisville (-20.5) over Pitt
Been cold lately but have to think the cards at home open it up. Louisville averages inthe 60's at home. Pitt has looked poor on the road but they have played better of late. Still Pitt score 6 in Nebraska, and I believe 13 in Ohio. Not only has pitt shown poor offense but Palko likes to toss a few Interceptions. The louisville defense plays very well at home. This is also a huge big east game, considering the cards are 1-2 in confrence. The big play offense should be able to run and throw all day. However louisville has come out flat and that will not be good with this much chalk. This is where the home field should come into play.

Ohio (+10.5) over Toledo

Toledo has yet to return to running and throwing the football equally. They have a very speedy defense and a good QB. On the other hand, Ohio is at home, have a very good head coach, an alright defense and perhaps the most important.... a match-up between Toledo and No. Ill up coming. The rockets end the year with No. Ill and Bowling Green, they are off a big upset loss and do not control their own destiny in the MAC, which is strange to the rockets. Solich has turned the Ohio team into a tough hard nosed program that can not be taken lightly, they have played the same teams as Toledo and faired about the same against them. Ohio will run and run and run so look to Toledo to stack the box. Everson can make throws but shows poor decisions and cannot afford to make mistakes tonight. Ohio has also seen VT in blacksburg and N'western in Chicago. Nothing Toledo has will shock Ohio. They are undefeated at home and this is their last home game of the season. Senior night in Athens with 10 points and a energetic crowd should be enough for the bobcats.

Oregon (-2) over Cal
The bears defense is not very strong and the ducks should be able to beat them running and passing. Having a new QB in the game is a bit of a scare. This was Clemens team and they believed in him. Dixon is more of a speed option at QB and he is very fast and can beat the defense when a play breaks down, not to mention he has the ability to toss a nice ball (6000 yards and 79 TD's in high school) Still this isn't high school and he is a freshman so he will have jitters."Dixon is an unbelievable athlete," Leaf said. "He can make plays that me and Kellen could never make just on sheer ability." If Dixon struggles then it will be time for a new Leaf, Ryan Leafs brother is the third string QB and he is just like his brother a true pocket passer but that hurts him in this new Oregon moving QB system. QB's best friend is his line (oregons is alright) and his TE (Day is a monster) Whitehead has been off his game and there are some talks about getting Stewart more touches, this might be enough to motivate Whitehead, who has been off his game all season. All in all looking a a better playing defense, home field advantage (freshman QB friendly) and most important a match with USC on the door step for Cal.

ND (-9) over Tenn
Hate this is so much chalk but the domers at home with their high powered offense should be enough to blow right past Tenn. ND is with a week of rest and they get a Riggs-less offense in south bend (rank 108th in scoring with 16.14 points per game and 99th in total offense with 315 yards per game).. The offense of the Irish can run and throw and they have a great leader in Quinn. He has picked up this offense and looked very comfortable. I know Tenn was looking ahead to this game last week but losing to South Carolina is very surprising especially at rocky top. Tenn is 2-1 on the road and the road win was a huge come from behind game in Death Valley. The redeeming factor in why this isn?t a huge play for me is the Tenn defense that has shown up in some big games. Quinn, completing 175 of 266 passes for 2,352 yards, with 20 touchdowns and four interceptions. This week's opponent, Tennessee, had allowed only one passing touchdown all season until allowing two to South Carolina. Just don?t think the Vols have enough firepower to match scores with ND, the defense for Tenn is very good but I am not sure they can match-up against the formations Weis will throw at them. The running game will open up the passing game and vise versa. Look at Walker and the big O-line to establish a ground game but that will force Tenn into a packed box which opens things up for Brady. I wouldn?t be surprised if ND come out throwing because I?m sure Tenn will not expect that and Brady can open it up, then forcing the Vols into pass coverage before exploiting them with Walker. Either way it is going to be a chess match and I like the versatility of the ND offense in comparison to the Vol defense. Not to mention its in south bend where the Irish play VERY well.

N?Western over IOWA
The N?Western game was one of the worest I have seen the cats play, with penalties and turnovers all night. HOWEVER I did see there defense step up and force Michigan into 4th downs something this team has struggled with all year. Basanez was not on his game and it seemed like he and Philmore were not on the same page most of the night. Sutton was a bright spot but did have a huge freshman turnover that cost the cats a lot. However they do have a very good offense and they play very well at home. Off a loss the cats should look to rebound against an Iowa team that has lost it?s 2 big games against Mich and OSU this year. Heart breaker 2 weeks ago in overtime against Michigan which might be tough to rebound from. This should be a slug fest and both teams have solid offense but Iowa has a better defense. Still the cats are a better team at home they may have been out hyped against Mich but they should come in focused and ready against Iowa. The hawkeye defense has great potential but they might struggle with the spread option based offense they will see today. Should be a good game both teams have big games on the door step but N?Western big play offense should get on top of Iowa and never look back. N'Western should and could win out right.

Kansas (+1) over Nebraska
The huskers are coming off a tough loss at home to Oklahoma. Kansas is coming off a big win against Mizzou, but the have Texas on the door step. However I?m not sure a team of Kansas caliber looks past anyone. The Kansas defense at home is very good and they should be able to cause turnovers and get to Nebraska?s QB. Nebraska will look to blitz and get pressure through the poor Kansas line, QB Swanson will have to make some huge plays with his feet. He is a very good athlete but throws into coverage and makes poor throws. The funny thing about Nebraska is they have only had TWO road games up until today. Baylor and Mizzou, they struggled with the Baylor bears and got crushed by Mizzou. Nebraska has a tendency to start slow and Kansas has to take advantage then all the game becomes Taylor throwing the ball and then the Husker offense is not very effective. In the two defeats this year Nebraska averaged 16 rushing yards. Still lack of road experience, Kansas improved ability at home, off the loss to Oklahoma and Callahan being one of the worst coaching in the history of football, make Kansas and the points my play.

VT (-6.5) over Miami
Loved Miami all week long, but after today I'm going with the Hokies. Miami is a great ball club with explosive speed however they have to run the ball in order to be in this game. I am very high on Wright but the fact remains he has thrown 5 picks in his last 2 games and the against the only other defense as fast as VT was FSU's and Wright struggled against them all night. That game played very heavy on this play. Miami was out right ineffective against FSU throwing the ball. The you take into consideration Miami lost that game by 3. Looking at the blackburg crowd this will be a very heated game and VT CANNOT afford not to play at the top of their game. Still Miami just doesn't look dominating and VT has won at home convincingly. Vick will need to be ready because this defense is probably one of the better he will face but IMO the home field will be huge. The Hokie defense has to force Miami into a passing game and then they should capitalize. The VT redzone productivity scares me a bit but I don't think they have really been dialed into a game yet. Normally the games are close and then halftime the Hokies come out firing. Today they need to start strong. Vick a better passer needs to not stay in the pocket and WAIT for WR to break open he has to think 5 and gone, the U's defense is too skilled for him to dance in the pocket all day, he should be able to scramble when a play breaks down. Both teams match up well but I think Vick can be more effective than Wright and this game will come down to QB play and turnovers, both I think VT should edge Miami out in.

Texas (-29) over Baylor
TT should have beaten Baylor by 40, the Raiders defense held the bears to nothing. The wake up call for Texas should have been last weeks first half yet the long horns still came out and opened a can in the second. The horns defense should be all over the bears. Texas also knows the reason they were jumped in the BCS standings were because they did not crush Okla st from word go. Mack Brown knows the way to jump USC again to to hammer teams and Baylor is on the tracks. I normally like Baylor in these big spots at home but the last game should serve as a serious reminder to the horns they have to play week in and out. The passing game for Texas should be open all day and Young who knows how to impress hiesman voters should have a big day running the ball. Texas should come out convincing and open it up on the bears.

TT (-13) over A&M

Not sold on A&M, while the Raiders look good at home. Will be an offensive game but I expect The TT QB to play well. This will be a tough game but I do not think A&M is very good especially in someone else's house. I'll drink to that.... "I see dead people"
