Saturday's Games
Televised Games
Wisconsin is 5-0 this season, with four wins by 9+ points; they are 17-10 vs spread in last 27 Big 11 road games. Home side has covered 11 of their last 14 games vs Northwestern, as Wildcats won twice in last three meetings, both as double digit dogs. The Wildcats allowed 40.8 ppg and 252 rushing yards the last three games; they're 9-5 in last fourteen tries as a home underdog.

Boston College coach O'Brien was OC at Virginia before coming to Chestnut Hill; he was at UVa for fifteen years. His Eagles are 16-9 as home favorite, 2-0 in '05, winning those two games by a combined score of 82-7. Cavs are 2-6 in last eight tries as road dog; they had defensive meltdown in 45-33 loss at Maryland last week, and Hagans was sacked seven times. Home favorites in ACC games are 2-4 vs spread so far this season.

What sadistic human put Duke-Miami on TV? Blue Devils have losses this season by 45-0 to Virginia Tech, 38-7 to Virginia; and also lost to East Carolina, Navy. Duke has yet to cover this year and used three QB's last week, in the first quarter, before going with a true freshman. Miami is 3-7 vs spread in its last ten home games in conference play.

Vandy's magic carpet ride ended at 4-0 last week, when they lost at home to Middle Tennessee, 17-15; now LSU comes to town; Bayou Bengals are 7-1 vs spread in last eight tries as favorite on foreign soil. Commodores are 7-3-1 vs spread as a home dog; it'll be interesting to see how they respond to last week's loss. LSU ran ball down Miss State's throat last week, throwing 11 passes in easy 37-7 win. Tigers beat Vanderbilt last year, 24-7 at home.

Central Michigan failed to cover its last five tries as favorite, but Army is 0-4 this season, and 1-20 in its last 21 home games. The Chippewas have clever QB in shifty Smith; they've already won two road games this year, including one as 20-point dog. Army has been outscored 74-30 in first half, 65-21 in second; they led Iowa State at the half, but have trouble finishing games, and are banged up in key spots.

Tons of pressure on Mack Brown and Longhorns to end their five-year drought vs Sooner club that is 2-2, has freshman QB, banged-up Peterson, but has beaten Texas by average score of 37-11 in five games since turn of century. Texas was 8-23 thru air in this game last year, but since then, Young has won at Ohio St beaten Michigan in Rose Bowl. Longhorns ran ball for 708 yards in last two games; they already have three wins by 31+ points.

Minnesota had its heart torn out by Michigan last couple years, losing both times by FG; Wolverines won last 12 series games (8-4 vs spread), with road team covering 13 of last 18 series tilts. Gophers covered just four of last 15 as road dog; Penn State ran ball for 364 yards against them last week. Michgian is 3-5-1 in its last nine tries as home favorite. Minnesota is dog for first time in '05; usually good trend for the dog, in situations like this.

Navy beat Air Force last two years, both by FG, as they claimed Commander-in-Chief trophy, which is these teams' Super Bowl-- this is very big game. Middies have young team; they have two losses by FG each, and last week's 28-21 win at Duke. Flyboys lost last three games, allowing 36 ppg- they're 9-7 as a road dog. Navy is 5-2 in last seven tries as home fave, 20-6 vs spread in the last 26 lined gamesd, overall.

USC has Notre Dame on deck, is probably already preparing for them; they've fallen behind 13-0, 21-3 in last two games, so staff will stress fast start vs Arizona club they've beaten last two by a combined margin of 94-9. Wildcats have improved, but they're not in Trojans' class; they lost 28-0 to Cal last week. USC is 13-2 vs spread in last fifteen tries as double digit home dog. Again, I am not sure who decided this game should be on TV.

Georgia covered four of last five games vs Tennessee, winning last two visits to Knoxville, 26-24/41-14; they covered seven of their last ten post-bye games and are 16-2 SU in last 18 games on foreign soil. having senior QB in Shockley also helps. Vols are 0-2 as home favorite this season, beating UAB 17-10, and Ole Miss 27-10. Dawgs failed to cover last three tries as a road dog, after covering previous five. SEC home favorites are 4-5.

Road team covered four of last five Colorado-Texas A&M tilts; Aggies beat Colorado in OT last year, both teams gaining 500+ yards. Buffs are 10-5 vs spread in Big 12 home games; they have scored 31+ points in three of four games, but are just 4-7 in last 11 tries as favorite. A&M is 2-14 vs spread in last 16 games as a road dog, amazingly bad number; they struggled to beat Baylor at home last week. Are they worse, or is Baylor better?

Home team covered eight of last 11 Purdue-Iowa games, as Iowa lost last two visits to Ross-Ade by 23-14/27-14 scores. Iowa is 0-2 on road this season, losing by combined score of 54-9- they are 11-6 in last 17 tries as road dog, and blocked two FG tries in last year's 23-21 home win over Boilers. Faves are 11-6 vs spread in last 17 series games. Purdue 0-2 as home favorite this season.

Texas Tech beat Nebraska 70-10 last year, lowest point in very proud history of Nebraska football. Tech QB Hodges, said to be struggling with sore thumb, making his first road start here, after Tech played very easy pre-Big 12 foes. Huskers are 4-0, but with two nail-biters, over Pitt, Iowa State. Tech covered two of seven as road favorite, huskers are 2-2 as home dog. Nebraska rushed for just 36 yards last week in OT win; they outscored foes 33-6 in first half of games this season.

Virginia Tech is 5-0 vs spread this season, covered 12 of last 13 games overall; they outscored last four opponents by combined margin of 175-24. Hokies beat Marshall 47-12 three years ago, as 11-point favorite. herd outscored last three foes 45-12 in second half; their comeback win over SMU last week made up a little for meltdown vs K-State, but Herd is not in same boat as Hokies are talent-wise. Virginia Tech needs solid wins to move up in polls.

Home team covered last seven Buckeye-Penn State games, with Ohio State losing last three visits to this site by 45-6/13-7/21-10 scores. Lions are 5-3 as home dog; they ran ball for 573 yards in last two games, but red flag is, they completed less than 50% of their passes. Will QB draws work vs sturdy Buckeye LB's? Odd stat is that Ohio State is 2-9 in last 11 tries ads road favorite. 1st road game for Buckeyes; they've outscored foes 67-19 in first half of games this season.

Road team covered all five Tulsa games this season; Tulsa lost but covered at Oklahoma, then hammered North Texas. So. Miss won last two games by 28,26 points, thanks to plus-5 turnover ratio. WAC road dogs are 5-11-2 vs spread in non-league games Conference USA teams are 11-5 vs spread out of league; this is first team a C-USA team will be home favorite in non-league tilt this season. Hard to gauge Southern Miss team that has been displaced by Hurricane Katrina, but is now back home.

New Mexico State does not have players to run Hal Mumme's offense, and they're getting killed, going 0-5, getting outscored 128-17 in first half of games, and allowing 37.2 ppg. Fresno State lost its only road game 37-34 at Oregon (they led 17-0); Bulldogs covered just one of last eight after a bye and nine of last 27 road games in conference play. Aggies covered their last five league home games, but that was in Sun Belt, not WAC.

Arizona State covered eight of last ten vs Oregon, but this is the first time in last eight meetings they've been favored; Sun Devils scored 114 points in last two home games vs Oregon, and split the pair. Ducks covered eight of last 12 as road dog. Both sides lost to USC after having double digit lead. Oregon allowed 52.8 ppg in last four visits to Tempe. ASU is 16-10 in last 26 tries as a home favorite; they won last three vs Ducks by 3,45,15 points.
