ok, i'm serious here...i would like to make a concentrated effort to tack on a few pounds to my slim frame.

1) i wouldn't mind gaining about 20 pounds.....

can anyone steer me the right way?

anyone have any real life stories of weight gain to share....?

i've got some time coming up for vacation...wanna get into shape for next year's trips to some hot and sunny places.....

and i need help with my abs too!!!!!

i have a ONE pack!!!!:(

2) if anyone can tell me about diet and such, to gain some weight.

3) exercises to help gain muscle?

4) ab exercises to make me feel the burn.

thanks in advance.

For your abs:

Work yourself up to hanging V ups utlizing straps that support your elbos and upperbody. Roll your torso up, and then extend outward with your legs, wth the height being just below yor bottom, any higher and the strain on your lower back is detrimental.

To work the obliques while hanging roll your torso up while turning to one side and then the other.

Sure to make your abs more powerful, but remember 6-packs are inherited for the most part, not just attained. Bt if you think your body can get a 6 pack, utlize weights while doinr crunches, Vups etc. simpley because you need to build your abs up, so they protrude out, thus giving you that desired affect. Not to mention you must be incredibly lean for any of this to happen, meanng as a male you should be around the 4-6%range of body fat.

As for gaining weight, read my response to Tbonez in the "dogface" thread.

FWIW - Over the past year or so I have seen great ab improvement by increasing my cardio workouts. I went to a free personal trainer session given to me as a gift last fall and the guy said basically, look you can do all the situps, crunchs, hangers, ab machines in the world. But if you still have fat over your abs, you wont see a thing. He said the biggest mistake people make in trying for a 6 pack is they neglect cardio and just pile on the crunches. They are building up great abs but cant see a thing.

I also use Myoplex protein shakes and whatever the local stores generic version of their bars are.

The one thing I remember him telling me is to mix it up. Dont always do the same workout every day. So I alternate days between an hour on the treadmill, elliptical and bike. I dont know if its the best, or if it will work for you, its just what has worked for me so far. Have gained 9 pounds in just a few months and dropped what gut I had. Big thing cardio or ab exercises is to vary your workout day to day, dont always do the same exercises.
