Went to Motor City Casino today...I always do well at this casino...Detroit has 3 of them...MGM - Greektown and Motor City. Anyways..I went for the hell of it and like I always do I took 50 bucks with me and my goal is usually to turn it into 200 dollars. I can usually do this pretty easily after the 3rd shoe. Anyways....I get all the way up to 175 midway through the 3rd shoe. Iam allright when it comes to counting cards...I do negatives and positives and just so they dont know I take a bag of skittles and count them that way....anyway I had counted more positive cards being gone then negatives...I had the ever hatted 15 and the dealer had a face card....I think about it for a second and I dont hit...even though your suppose to, but I dont. Anyways...the guy next to me hits and gets a 7...so I woulda busted anyhow...well anyways the dealer flips it and gets a 3, just as I hoped she would...then the bitch gets an 8. So then the whole ****ing table is screaming at me. Telling me I suck and this that and the other. I said ok...we`ll see who sucks. I sit out the rest of the shoe...and GLADLY watch these fawkers lose there ass. They all go and I play the new shoe with new people. I count count and count. Anyways....I counted away sooo many negative cards that I was just like fawk this Iam betting the farm. So I put all my chips in which was about 225(over my goal). I get a face card...get another...so I got 20 and the dealer is showing a 9. Damn bitch flips her card to get a 3  Iam thinking this is easy money....then she beats me with another 9 :( Its the first time I lost at Motor City Casino.

Moral of the story....stick with your goals

I have never won serious money at any casino without bad card players around me. Never yell at anybody for playing their cards, you will get your ass handed to you after that.

This is one thing I've never understood. Why in the hell do people bitch at other players sometimes for NOT playing Basic Strategy blackjack? After all, the cards are in random order. These dumbasses will let you have it if one doesn't adhere strictly to the rules of basic strategy. BUT, how many times have you heard them say anything when a peson makes a bad move and it winds up helping out the other players? I tell ya, NONE!

Neemer......I agree and disagree.Ive played alot of blackjack with skilled players and rookies. The cards are random but every succussful blackjack player will tell you that YOU MUST PLAY BY THE RULES.Every November the Tenn PGA holds a pro-am in Vegas.Last year I was playing with some of the other golfers and the table was hot.I mean red hot.We were all playing minimum $100 hands and then this guy sits at the table. He was a rookie. We were all nice to him but he was a black cloud. After misplaying..splitting hands....double downs.... he finally made us all leave when he hit on 17.I couldnt believe it!!!!!The dealer was mad too cause we were tipping her good.So in my experiences...I would much rather have the whole table playing the game the right way.But in this case..someone who brings $50 to the table cant last too long.Unless your playing on the $2 table. But I would never get mad at the person...I would just find a new table!!!:D

I can understand that simple rules tell ya to hit on 15 when the dealer has 10 showing....but I counted what I counted...and I counted correctly....and these assholes are mad because I didnt hit and they all lost. Fawk them..I play to win - I dont play for them...I hope they realize that. Hell I remeber I had a blackjack on one hand...but they lady next to me had a soft 17...AND SHE DIDNT HIT!!! Damn I dont care what the card count is or whatever...you always hit on soft 17...and she ended up costing the table everything, including herself. Nobody seemed to get mad at her....fawk these idiots..I have a simple stragety that has helped me win. I really really hate it when people around me bitch...I mean if its something obvisouly stupid that I do - then I can see it....but when my not hitting on 15 strategy works out in my favor, then shut up.

I felt sooo good when they all lost there ass!!!! I hope they lose there ass tomorrow and the day after and the day after...fawk them all :gf:

To those who bash other BJ players

Just find another table if you don't like a player at your table!

The one that really ticks me off is when these players that THINK they know BASIC Strategy but don't really know it all.... the main one is when I hit my 12 against a dealer 2 or 3..... Basic Strategy says to hit.... but so many people complain and say that the dealers 2 or 3 is a bust card... and then they complain that I hit it.....

Hellah10, what the hell were you thinking when you opened a BJ debate?, now im starting to feel as I am born again. Personally I consider myself a very good BJ player (I know it doesnt sounds good, but I think I am). I play BJ every day against me (hard to explain it) and I used to play on a illegal casino here in Mexico but I quit. I went to Las Vegas this summer with 3 friends that doesnt like gambling (but oh my god, they ride New York-New York mountain like 1000000 times) anyway, they know how I am and each day one of them had the mission to stay with me on the table (not even betting, just behind me so I dont bet the farm) I played great, made some money and sometimes people asked me for advices and they usually won (have to say that EVERYONE where nice people). Well, the first 4 to 5 hours were ususally great, but as soon as my friends get bored and leave, I start to bet over my limits (and also with a high alcohol on my body) and always lost all. Damn I see I am missing my point. After playing against myself I had seen that we should follow just SIMPLE RULES. I also had been bash from people because I didnt hit a card or because I hit it, personally I think its bull shit unless dealer?s face card its a 6. Damn I am already lost, but here are some rules I follow:

Double down only when the dealer?s face card its 7 (sometimes) or lower. In vegas I saw how everyone DD just because they had 11 or 10, but the dealer?s face card was a 10 also. For me a DD should only be when you think a dealer can get bust, not when you think you can get 21.

If the dealer?s face card its 7-10 and you have 14 or lower, hit. Sometimes even with 15.

Never split a 10 or a 9, unless dealer have a 5-6 card.

If dealer ask you for even money on a BJ, take it, (I remember a guy from San Diego that speaks little spanish, he had a BJ and dealer had an ace, he ask me "what do I do, even money or risk it?" he bet 75 or 95 dlls, and I told him "Sir you already won, take the even money" he did it, and the dealer had a BJ, he was so happy because he wants to risk the BJ that he offers me 40 dlls (the half) but I didnt accept the money and he told me "Kid you are a gentleman".

Never blame anyone for hit or dont hit a card. One time on this casino the dealer had a 4 or 5 and I had less than 10, I was the last one on the table (everyone knows everyone on that casino) and I told the people I will stay, I did and the dealer had a 14 or 15 (as I supposed) and then we got bust with a 10, everyone sid to me that it was a risky play and that I shouldnt do it again. Yeah you are right the next card he deal on the new game was the card that he need for the 21. This example its to show you that even they are some rules cards are a bitch and you never know. But, can you imagine if the card that I didnt hit was the one that gave him the 21, did one card makes me an asshole or a genius.

Ah, finally a thread where my expertise comes into play..

I've been dealing blackjack now for over 3 1/2 years.. I've seen more hands of blackjack than most people/gamblers will in their entire lifetime x10.. I've seen just about everything.. People STAYING on a pair of ACES, people splitting 5's with a 10 showing, people doubling down on a hard 16, people hitting on a hard 18.. Nothing surprises me anymore..

As far as strategies are concerned, I say BASIC STRATEGY is the ONLY way to go.. I think counting cards is a WASTE OF TIME.. I dont do it when I go play, if that says anything..

I just laugh when people get pissed at each other for taking/not taking cards when they're supposed to.. I get pissed when people do that when I play though too.. It usually evens out in the end..

It seems tough to get a table (where everyone is playing basic strategy) to win for a duration of time.. On the other hand, it seems having a moron on the table actually helps.. But in the end, its all random, so they say..

JESSY LOVER- A very good BJ player wouldnt stay on a hand less than 10.. I dont care what your gut feeling or intuition says.. Thats idiotic to say the least.. Most of your proclaimed "Rules" are ass backwards..

For example,

"Never split a 10 or a 9, unless dealer have a 5-6 card."

Splitting 10's at anytime is moronic.. Not splitting 9's against a 3-4 and to a lesser extent a 2, is also moronic..

I could go on and on but I wont.. Buy a basic strategy card..

OMAR-

Money management in blackjack is just as important as in sportsbetting, probably even more-so.. Im sure you realize you should have jetted when you hit your goal, and certainly not plopped the farm out on one hand.. :nono:

He who dies with the most toys, still dies.. I love that saying..

Oh, and some interesting info to prove my money management point.. The most losses in a row I've seen in a 6 deck game (that I remember and actually counted) was 16.. Most wins I've seen (that I remember and actually counted) is 14..

And my last piece of advice is: Stay away from casinos.. They're EVIL!

Good luck MAC-MAN

Ahhhhhh a blackjack thread.

I have been through this debate with friends over the last 10 years of blackjack playing. I am an avid Basic Strategy player and encouarge people I play with regularly to learn it. However eventually the topic comes up of whether a ploppies bad play helps or hurts us in the long run.

The answer is, it evens out. I know a lot of you dont want to hear that, but I have come around to that fact. The thing is, you have to play long enough so that statistics catches up with you. Sure we can all remember that one bad play where ploppy doesnt hit dealer makes his hand and we lose big. However, I GUARANTEE its happened or will happen that a different rookie makes a mistake that helps the whole table. I guarantee it has happened to you, we just choose to not remember the ones that help us.

Where bad play hurts you is your attitude. You get pissed, you want to offer them advice, your blood rises. This is when you should leave. Not because it is a bad game, but because you are not having fun anymore.

Also please, NEVER OFFER ADVICE unless you are asked. I consider myself a very good player but I hate when some cranky coot who just lost because of a rookies bad play berates them and then keeps it up for the rest of the shoe. Sure its happened where a rookie may see my big stack of chips and ask my advice, or ask to see my basic strategy card, and I will always give advice or help if asked.

I love blackjack. MMMMM BLACKJACK. Sweet cards on the felt. Wait I am unemployed, live 3 hours from AC and have 3 months severence in the bank.

Bye bye.

I will be flying into Milwaukee in two weeks. Are there any good casinos close (especially one with a good poker room)?

Thanks.

I agree with acehigh's sentiments exactly.

first off...appreciate everyones advice and comments...

Anthony - Your exactly right, I shoulda found another table...

Korn - I ALWAYS hit on 12 if the dealer shows 2 or 3...and more times then not, it usualy works for me....

Jessy Lover - Iam not a big fan of doubling down becuase of the risk factor. Ive seen countless times where people double down on 11 and they get a 3 or something. I am not to sure about spliting 10s or 9s...I mean thats 20 and 18 there......

Brandon - People STAYING on a pair of ACES, people splitting 5's with a 10 showing, people doubling down on a hard 16, people hitting on a hard 18.. Nothing surprises me anymore..????  Yikes they must be idiots, it must be fun watching them lose lol. As far as your counting cards comment...It has helped me in alot of ways. I can`t do it in my head...thats why I bring the skittles with me. In fact, I think counting cards is the only way I can win.
But your absolutely correct on the money managment. I mean it looked good to start, but it must of been a sign when the bitch flipped a 3 then drew a 9  My stomach fell to the ground :(

ace - I never offer advice, unless I got some major money on one hand...but even then I dont offer advice...I just look at the person and kinda see whats shes/he thinking. Like yesterday the woman next to me had a soft 17....i looked at her, kinda bowed my head as if I was telling her to hit it...but she doesnt  I was kinda shocked....anyways I made my hand cuz I had blackjack...but everyone lost cuz the dealer got 20 or 21...something like that...i was pissed nobody yelled at her though.

Oh well...I`ll go back up there and take them to town...let them learn!!!  :p

Dawg-

There's a casino in the Milwaukee area called Potowatomi.. Never been there myself, but I've heard lots of comments both good and bad.. HOWEVER, there's NO POKER ROOMS at any casino in Wisconsin.. State law.. ONLY table game allowed in Wisconsin is blackjack.. A friend of mine works on a boat in Elgin Ill, (not sure how far that is from where you're going to be) and I think they do have poker there, but Im not 100% positive.. Also not sure how far the casino is from Milwaukee, but I'd think its within 60 miles..

Good luck!

Dawg,

There is a casino in milwaukee, not right by the airport tho. Potawatomi Casino is fairly close to the baseball stadium and they just underwent a big renovation a few years back. It has a lot of glitz and glamour. But it is mainly slot machines there. Yes there are blackjack tables, but not that many. I was in there 2 years ago and it was over the holidays around this time of year actually. Place was packed full of old rude people spending their social security checks.
I think there were 6 tables there were 25$ min. $200 max. the 200 max stands true for ALL tables i do believe. there is another maybe 20 tables with 5-10 buck limits. that is where granny and her cronies go to play. bitch bitch bitch is all you hear sitting there!

The people there are rude. To put it mildly. And the pit bosses suck as far as removing nuisances.
I got burned repeatedly on my arm while sitting next to some old bag who was smoking and jumping up and down cussing everytime she got dealt a 15 or 16 and the dealer had a 10. I asked her to stop numerous times, she didnt....
then i moved the ashtray to her other side and got a look of disgust from people... then the hag burned me again! this time i tossed the ashtray on the floor.
And not 5 minutes later... the cranky old bag does it again!!!!
Lucky for me, i had a big ole chew of copenhagen in and managed to "miss" my spitoon and have it land on her arm.
instant removal from the premises to me.
But hey, at least they let me cash out my chips first!

PS. If you are lookin for a poker game or someone to show you around let me know, I still have some dear friends into the scene out there.

I too have been to that Milwaukee Casino several times. It sucks and it is the only game in town. Rude people, Rude Pits, I only go there when I'm in Milwaukee and I'm bored.

Love Blackjack, lots of casinos here in MN (same Indian Casino rules).

Been playing a lot of poker at the Canterbury Card Club in Shakopee, MN (near Minneapolis). They have Carribean, Black Jack, Let It Ride, 3 Card Poker, Mini-Baccarat and Pai-Gow. A very fun place.

Agree with most of the guys in here....there are good and bad Blackjack players and I play the basic strategy game. If I get too much dumbass play, I switch tables.

GL to all.
