one more thing i noticed on the NC bench i didnt like was their expressions, did anyone else get feeling there were crapping pants--not a single leader stepping up anywhere ... even Digger said it late last night, and i hate agreeing with him, hehe ... actually i like those guys in the studio, lavin, digs and the round mound of sound, they liven it up and say what they feel, and know the game, tho digger has his fave coaches in the good ole boy frat

I was at the game, and I thought the refs were whistle happy all night. As for the play in question, I thought the call was bogus but it's very difficult to say from the angle I was sitting at. After a few replays on the big screen I couldn't believe traveling was the call on the play, especially considering the timing of it all.

I'll tread lightly with this, because I know there are some great UNC fans out there, but for the most part I was very unimpressed with the UNC supporters at the Carrier Dome last night. The UNC crowd reminded me of Yankee fans, a few that were passioinate about their team but for the most part a lot of front runners. The group of guys behind me were telling me how much they love UNC and that they watch every game, then also proceeded to argue with me later in the game that the "TOL" category on the scoreboard stood for turnovers lost. (My girlfriend later turned around to them and asked if it stood for turnovers lost then she's like them to explain why the total was going down) That was good, but the best were these people in front of me saying that the refs were giving the game to Nova, and the team fouls at that point in the half was Nova 7, UNC 2. Just seemed like a lot of them had their head in the clouds and only see the game through Carolina Blue glasses. I hope this was just as case of some fair weather fans who got tickets and needed a team to root for and not a reflection of what goes on down at Chapel Hill. For a team with such a national reputation I expected a little more knowledgeable fan base.

blackman,

well said and great post--I like NC but an idiot is an idiot, thats why i rarely pay to see games anymore, almost never--fans are morons and i can be one myself at home and not bother anyone ;)... the more expensive the suit the more bias, is good barometer at sporting events

thanx

Unfortunately the wine and cheese fans that occupy the lower level of the smith center are also the ones with the clout/money to get good tix and travel for games. The most hardcore fans are the average joes who can't take the time or money to travel up to syracuse. It's sad, I can just picture the fans that sat behind you, oh well. Even if you came to a home game you would see the same thing in the lower level, lot of "who's your father" old money etc b.s. .
