What do we all think about the health care bill?

I'm not very smart but at 62 years old I think I might be fucked. How do you other 50-65 year olds feel about what's going on?

I'm past 65, but if I were your age with less than 3 years to Medicare, I'd hope Obamacare stays in place. It isn't perfect, and it costs too much in many cases, but it's better than whatever else is out there.
Fuck Medicare? You're nuts. At age 65 you get in-hospital care free, with some copays and deductibles. For another hundred bucks out of your pocket you get out-of -hospital care free with a few co-pays.
For all your other expenses you can buy a Plan F supplement (about $125/month at age 65) on the open market which covers all your copays and deductibles.
You then are paying about $225 per month and you never pay one cent for any medical care. Zero. No limits. The only thing you pay for is prescription drugs, and for another $40/month you get drugs covered.
Bottom line, for a total of about $265 per month you are covered for every medical expense you can have.
And, best of all, Medicare controls what doctors and hospitals charge.
A couple years ago I had a bit of surgery, one night in the hospital. The bill was $90,000. Medicare paid them $19,000. Okay, they said, good enough. I paid not one cent.
Fuck Obamacare, and double fuck Trumpcare. And fuck the insurance companies, and fuck the overpriced physicians. And triple fuck the outrageously priced medical devices. You want to treat patients in the USA, you get what Medicare allows. Just like Canada, England, France, Germany, Sweden, Norway and other smart countries. All of which have longer life spans than we do. Because their healthcare system works better. It covers everyone.
Call it Socialism, call it Communism, call it tit-sucking, call it a pink elephant, the name does not matter. What does matter is that it WORKS FOR EVERYONE.
Everyone gets medical care. And it costs 75% less.
Enroll everyone in Medicare. Costs go way down and nearly everyone can afford the premiums. Those who can't get a few bucks from the rest of us.

I'm the oldest male in my family history both sides to have never had multiple heart attacks. I've never been sick. I need to be insured. Maybe Panama or Costa Rica until I'm Medicare age?

Rep. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) plans to resign from office on Friday. Before he walks out the door, though, there?s something the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform needs to get off his chest.
He thinks members of Congress need financial aid.
In an interview with The Hill published Tuesday, Chaffetz recommended a monthly $2,500 housing stipend for House and Senate lawmakers, arguing the policy would actually save money by allowing them to spend less on plane tickets.
?Washington, D.C., is one of the most expensive places in the world, and I flat-out cannot afford a mortgage in Utah, kids in college and a second place here in Washington, D.C.,? said Chaffetz. Like most of the lawmakers, he?s been making $174,000 a year. The House and Senate majority and minority leaders earn $193,400 annually, while the House speaker gets $223,500.
?I think a $2,500 housing allowance would be appropriate and a real help to have at least a decent quality of life in Washington if you?re going to expect people to spend hundreds of nights a year here,? Chaffetz said.
His advice isn?t without a huge dollop of irony.
In March, the congressman responded to criticism that the GOP health care bill would make medical care unaffordable for tens of millions of Americans by saying lower-income people should ?invest in their own health care ... rather than getting that new iPhone.?
If lawmakers are really struggling to pay the bills while making more than three times the median household income in the United States, perhaps they should follow suit.

Yesterday I had my annual follow-up. I was seen by the Doc's PA, a 30 something black lady with an RN.
I was reading a newspaper when she walked in.
"Anything interesting in the paper?" She asked.
Naw, just more of the same stuff, Republicans trying to repeal Obamacare.
"Uh-huh", she said. "That Donald Trump is nuts.....why do they keep calling the Affordable Care Act Obamacare?"
"You know the answer to that just as well as I do.", I said.
"Yes". she said, "Because he is black. And those Trump people think that's a bad thing."
"Right on, my sister." I said.
We chatted a bit, and I told her about my childhood, growing up in the Mississippi Delta, the worst stinking shithole of racism on earth. I left after high school and never went back.
That black woman I spent ten minutes with is much closer to being my sister than any of the white Delta girls I went to school with for 12 years.
And just so you know, I'm as lilly-white as it gets. Norwegian/German/English
