I am sure this has probably been touched on before but thought I would resurrect this one anyway.

What or who got you started in sports wagering?

Me: Middle School Student Age 12. A transplanted huskerfan from Socal. Living in Nebraska who did not like the Huskers? My Principal. He was an Oklahoma fan. I was so sure that Nebraska would beat Oklahoma that year. (1988). My principal kept egging me on. He said I will bet you that they don't win. I looked in my pocket and saw all of 3 dollars. (My allowance was a buck a week!!!!) LOL

I bet him my 3 bucks. He said he would give me 3 if NU won and I had to wash his truck if he won.

Neb 7 OU 3

The rest is history!!!!

Have seen it all my life, (my pops is an avid player, I used to collect high dollar tickets that were thrown away at Golden Gate Fields and Bay Meadows - started @ 5 yo.) I was against it for a while (due to my Mom ragging on my pops), then I played BlackJack in Reno (@ 24) and that was my hook (I won). Since the first hand of BlackJack I have been interested in playing, always looked at sports and look @ what I would have done ATS on paper and it was good. Last football season (2000) I finally started to play for real, had a good year and then took it on the chin in playoffs....the rest is history. Knowing F_Monk & Kevinmac_99 didn't help either, watched them boys without playing and then finally decided---what the heck:rolleyes: . But I watched Kmac & Monk for a couple of years before I had the balls to pony up my cash.

Used to go down to the fairgrounds with a friend of mine once a week with about $40 or so and played the horses. Overall broke even doing that just ended up getting bored. Remember always seemed to do better at Santa Anita then the other tracks. As for sports did a work pool during NFL and got 10-15 people at $10 and whoever did the best spread wide won it. Won it the most and thought I could win at sports betting. Got a bookie and needless to say it was MUCH harder than I expected. :nooo:

as a young boy, I believe under the age of 10, betting my father $10 Tony Dorsett and Pitt would run all over Penn St. Didn't know of a betting line at the time:shrug: . A few years later, my father told me to give him $2 and he would come home from the dog track and that $2 would be $20. Not sure if he really won this or just gave me a $20, but he definately touched the right motor nueron in my brain and I haven't been the same since:thefinger . Thanks pops:drinky: ......you're probably rolling over in your grave about now:D

was an early teenager and my dad would bring home the bookie tickets from work.he let me pick a college and a pro ticket each week and pay for it,if it won i would get the winnings.let me tell you the amount of research i did was impressive.anything i could get my hands on related to football i would grab up.i'd have notes and stats and trends all thought out.i didnt win much, but the once or twice i did get the 4 out of 4 right during the course of the season wetted my appetite.today my old man calls me up each weekend and asks who i like and what we are playing.its been a nice hobby and as long as you dont bet what you cant afford to lose, fun also.thanks dad

Those damn jim feist/stu feiner/kevin duffy tout-hollorfests on saturday morning. called some 800# for a free "locK" and it lost. (surprise #1) the VERY next day, some italian smooth talking mother f#$%^er talked me into going to western union to deposit $100 (surprise #2) (which i boldly-yeah right) talked down from $300, on UCLA in college hoops (and i will never forget this!) they played some crap team and were favored by 11.5. they were ahead by 20+ with just under 4 minutes to play. they PULLED THEIR STARTERS and i thought i would shit. {lost $100+ for western union and the $150 (my life savings) that i had to pull strings to find a damn bookie} and the lead started to dwindle. UCLA was up 13 and the clock neared 5-4-3-2 and SOME PIECE OF SHIT MADE A LAYUP AS THE CLOCK EXPIRED and i LOST by 1/2 point! since that day, i have been addicted.

ironically, the very next day, hit a 3 team trifecta (on my favorite number at the time) 7-4-6 for $610 and made my money back. stu feiner, what was i thinking!!!! :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger :thefinger
