that's the question......

i had a good week, up around 7 units, but i learned that i'm gonna go soft for one more week before i up my units.....

what did i learn?

1) the sunbelt conference took a BEATING in week one, no worries, for the 4 other sunbelt fans out there like myself, the games'll get better with the inter-conference match ups....

2) 6 of the 7 mountain west teams that played WON.
and the one fawking mountain west team i played on LOST???
ie: colorado st.....who had a TOUGH game against Colorado...

3) Kent ST is 1 - 0??????

4) beware of high spreads....they are the devil's handywork.

5) I'm staying away from my bad luck conference of all time...the S.E.C....i have NEVER been able to cap that conference.....?????
usually about 1/3 of my losses in the last 2 years have been in this conference....????

has anyone learned anything else this week?

I learned that Ohio State looked much, much better than I thought they would, especially on defense. I'm starting to think Tressel, a great, great coach, walked into a situation where he had the players of a great, great recruiter in John Cooper. It was the perfect situation for him, and the Buckeyes and their fans are enjoying the fruits of that hire right now.

BIG TEN Brother!!!

WATCH THE BIG TEN!!!;) ;) )

yes, yes, we know..the BIG TEN.

what did i learn from that conference this week:

a) western michigan may be better than people give them credit for.....mich st should have blown them out.....barely getting by a supposed lower echelon MAC team????

b) michigan.....? c'mon CG, it was against C.michigan.....not a real test.

c) minny vs ulsa, again, read above (B)

d) ohio st vs washington....now YES, that was a game i enjoyed watching....looks like ohio's "D" is intact and ready to roll this year.....but man, i thought the huskies would put up more of a fight....???

e) penn st barely got past TEMPLE???? of all teams????
penn's offense looked TERRIBLE today.....they scored 3 field goals???? it's only because Temple's offense sucked even more that PENN barely won. 23 - 10? not the way you wanna be covering a -24 spread, my friend.

f) wisconsin vs wv....good game (as in EXCITING), not gonna comment on that one.
but let's see how the badgers play against the rest of the big ten....does 2-6 sound familiar?

g) northwestern vs kansas...well, really can't comment on a game that was played in the rain...really unfair for BOTH teams.....while MOST games were played in nice clear weather.....but again man, it's KANSAS......????

h) iowa vs miami,ohio.....now this was good iowa "D"....should be fun to watch the hawkeyes in inter conference play.

i) indiana vs uconn...well since i had uconn winning, i pretty much knew what the indiana team is like on the road the last 3 years.......BITCHES....watch for them to get blown out more often on the road this season....good start for UCONN though. :)

j) Illy gave MIZZOU a good fight on the road....that was the intended outcome of the game....with both offenses being pretty anemic.....

so we'll wait for these teams to play higher echelon teams in other conferences before we analyse further.;)

The Badgers managed to esacpe a tough road game in spite of Sorgi's play. With the next few games coming in the friendly confines of Camp Randall, that should help him work out his kinks. Davis could've had 200 yards if they'd used him more, which they should have. He is flat-out stud.

I disagree, AU is a very good team. They just got beat by a better team with the best coaching staff in the nation. USC was under-rated and i think AU will go 10-2 this year. They also are not out of the NC contention either if they run the table.

AU should hold their heads high, they did not take the easy route like most college teams do and schedule a creampuff for opening game. One difference between AU and Miami, Miami wants no part of USC. (Miami did not want to play USC this year, nor the next 2 years home and away, and they have the motto play anyone anywhere anytime????? lol) USC has open dates for the next 2 years and no top teams want to play USC. USC is not afraid of competition, and i would like our series with AU to continue. AU fans are real classy and have great program.

FIGHT ON!

That S. Carolina's offense is still pathetic (14 points vs. UL-LA), even though Skippy Holtz has taken over the play calling from pops. However, defense didn't allow a score and forced a lot of turnovers (again...it was UL -LA).

Bottom line...if today was any type of indicator, look for S. Carolina to go UNDER the total a lot this season.

Come on now, Miami plays non-conference games against Florida State, Florida and Tennessee in addition to its Big East schedule. That's not exactly Kansas State's schedule. No AD in the world would consider adding USC to that schedule.

USC did look great today, though. But there's no way Auburn is a top-6 team.

Auburn is a decent team but were overrated. I laugh that some people actually thought this team was a national title contender. I'd put them up against the top 15 teams in the country & I am confident they would walk out with a losing record. They will never win a title with Tubbermoron on the sidelines.

Yeah I played against the Gamecocks as they have no business being 26 point favorites against anyone.
