pull everything back for one year...or for good.......pull out of s.korea....out of europe...stop all aid.........pull totally out of the middle east.....take history back a year or so....put saddam back in power....let israel and palestine know that we no longer are involved in any way....no aid to israel...no protection for kuwait or saudi arabia...

just issue a blanket statement to the rest of the world...."THE U.S. IS NO LONGER INVOLVED....DO AS YOU WISH....THE U.S. HAS NO PART IN ANY INETRNATIONAL ISSUES....JUST LEAVE US THE HELL ALONE"...shut down the borders with mexico and canada....no foreign student visas......

obviously trade and other such issues would go on....but,put a moratorium on american influence politically and militarily.....

what would happen?....please weigh in guys....i think it`s an intersting topic....and try and be objective,if at all possible....

We would still be hated

As long as we prosper and they struggle they will hate us. We would be blamed for not caring about them only caring for ourselves. Rulers like Saddam would use their nuclear weapons to impose fear on his neighbors. In my opinion the world would go to shit real quick

Kansas City area for who knows how long....
and we unfortunately need cooperation with other countries to fight war on terrorism

"We are all anti-war -- and American troops in Afghanistan
and the Persian Gulf represent the kind of protest
that terrorists can understand."

if it were done retroactively

would germany have been unified?.....

would the u.s.s.r. still be as it once was?....

would kuwait and saudi arabia be part of iraq?

would there still be a south korea?

would israel even exist without u.s. aid and support, surrounded on all sides by fundamenalists and mortal enemies?

would pakistan and india feel free to cut loose on one another over kashmir?

We tried that once already in the years leading up to WWII. After we came to the rescue in WWI most Americans believed the only way to avoid another war was through isolationism. We ignored Hitler and Japan for years hoping they would just go away. Most Americans felt that it wasn't our problem. If it wasn't for Pearl Harbor we may have never entered WWII.

This is what led to the creation of the United Nations (if i'm not mistaken?) after the war. Most people felt in hindsight that the weakness of the League of Nations and American Isolationism post WWI allowed the Nazi's to rise to the height they did before the war, and made it that much harder to defeat them.
