Agent 0659 said:Why would you think a theft claim wouldnt count against you? Very bad advice!!
Agent, asked the very same thing to my State Farm agent, and he said that because it was a file that pertained to personal belongings, items that were added on after the standard 20% in items, and was appraised seperately, and the claim occured seperate from the property, it would not make a difference in my renewal or new homeowners in the future. (I didnt really believe him either)
BUT, I needed the money, and it had really been stolen, so I took it. State Farm policy never went up. Years later, switched from State Farm to All state, and they were informed of the claim and they said it made no bearing on my new policy. I was actually paying less than I was before on a house worth almost twice the value.
Clem, if this was bad advice, I am sorry. Just speaking on personal experience, I am in NO way an expert on Insurance, home or any other kind!! I know insurance in every state is different. Thanks for setting this straight, Agent.
