What many of you Mad J's did here for Herb Larkins and Michael Madden...

if you recall everyone sent $5 to their address's that I posted...with no names..just a merry x-mas envelope....Herb got over $1800 and he bought a flat screen TV with it..Herb was the North Texas St basketball player that is a quadraplegic after an incident at practice...He still lives in NYC and still has the TV...he;s doing good...imagine it happened in 1972.... I will call him this week...Michael was one of my students going to football practice when the car he was in skidded off the road.Michael was in a coma for about 2 or 3 yrs and passed away..he had 4 younger brothers and sisters...you guys did the same you did to Herb.. I think the Maddens got about $600 and bought their kids x-mas gifts...

So the question is what have you done...many of you are still around here to remember your gifts..you all did a lot ....thank you again...

Divorced my ex and gave her a 6 figure settlement so my kids could live in a nice house growing up:shrug: Still bitter about it

It really was not enough for that poor woman.

With how super wealthy you are a six figure settlement should not upset you.

On a serious note....

On a serious note....

Give to charity (salvation army, st judes, ada, nkf) at various times of the year. Not much, but what I can do....

Have given several friends job references....

Try to help out good causes on a regular basis when asked....

Forgot about that one.

Asked wife if I could buy breakfast and lunch for the kids that need it in school. Seems that it is pretty well covered from within. The kids that need it don't go hungry.

There is a mitten tree which is hats and mittens for the kids that need it. I will fill the branches!

I like doing things anonymously and seeing the person smile or hear them talk about it later. I got off work early recently and scraped a bunch of car windshields. I have no idea who they belonged to.

I have also found that people have come to me sometimes years later and thanked me for doing something i did for them or for their child/mom/relative/friend, and when told I might not or only vaguely remembered what they were talking about. People remember the big things, yes, but they remember the small acts of kindness a lot as well, so even if u don't have money to spare, just being nice and courteous and doing small acts if service really lift up your fellow man.

I'm blessed to have a lot of opportunity to do nice things for others at my job. We have these cards that can be filled out at work (can also be done electronically) by patients and employees if a person wants to recognize an employee. I love getting those and reading them :) Makes my day.

Good question. I shoved neighbors' walks today. Month ago I returned to mailbox some guy's wallet I found lying open on street. He'd dropped it climing out of pickup to go in, probably drunk as hell.

Try to be a sort of anti-entropy vessel - do little things unremarked, unnoticed that make things a little bit better for everyone. Pick up litter. Dress well instead of like a slob, as too many do. Hold doors. Hold tongue. Be the kind of person and exhibit the kind of behavior you'd like to see the world filled with.

I didn't and won't pile on Hedgehog for absolutely no reason. While I don't agree with a lot of people on here and he is one of them in many aspects, I don't know him personally and will shy away from degrading him on an internet forum for no apparent reason.

Hope that helps,
