I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Middle Tennessee St. Illinois is my alma mater and we lost the last 6 games of the '96 season, then all 11 games in '97 (my freshman year), and the first game of the '98 season before finally beating Middle Tennessee St. to end the 18-game losing streak. That was the beginning of the turnaround that eventually culminated in Illinois making the Sugar Bowl in 2001 - though let's not talk about what happened their or pretty much anything that's happened since (including today).
