many options..

if this is your first swim w/HD

how big is room..

do you want the latest greatest or great picture on a 55-60 w/a sound bar added

I have 5 LED's

ranging from 70''....to 40'' in the bedroom to 32'' as my monitor/tv on my desk..

4k is awesome...but so is the price.

Because you are watching sports and Market for HD has matured where most TVs are viable options, I would consider a high MHz rate of 120 or 240. Tvs today now have wifi enabled apps which are handy for music, Netflix, Amazon prime etc. So, in summary, 1080P and high MHz conversion will give you great sports viewing, and a wifi enabled app feature (smart) should meet all other wishes. 4k is new, and the pricing is not consumer friendly nor the amount of viewing choices with 4k. If you want 4k for game play I can suggest a great 42 inch monitor that's about 450.

Enjoy

Panasonic and Sony :0074
any Samsung product :nooo:

forget 4k, there aren't any real 4k material around yet. search google what kind of apps you like/need.

my advice would be to decide screen size (50'' min) and buy as
expensive Panasonic as you are willing to spend :0008

the last tv I bought was a 120 hz model(after several 60hz`s) and I have to say there is a real difference between the 60`s and 120`s...I was skeptical but the proof is in the viewing(at least in my experience)....

I`ve had good luck with Panasonics and sonys....but my last several have been lg`s....not an elite-priced tv but imo,the picture on the lg`s has deeper color,a sharper picture and much more depth.....as soon as my 55" sony buys the farm,i`m going for another lg....highly underrated....I have 3 and have had no issues thus far...

btw...my cousin just replaced his Samsung with an lg at my suggestion and he`s tickled with it...he got the works(the 4k, uhd etc) with wifi and he`s very happy with it(his old tv,a Samsung, seemed to have fallen victim to this capacitor issue)....

http://miami.cbslocal.com/2012/02/0...samsung-tvs-plagued-by-possible-power-defect/

in fairness,I`ve mostly heard good things about Samsung...

my cousin paid around $1300/$1400 for a 55" lg with all the bells and whistles...

g.l. brother...

i agree gw, i wasn't bashing samsung, just my opinion. i guess i have
had bad luck with their printers, hard disks and tv's...

Hz is important if you want good 3d and motion control. if motion control
isn't good watching sports sucks big time...

some movies and sports look pretty awesome in 3d (i prefer active 3d)

and what gw said there are other labels than the usuals, like Philips, LG and Vizio that make good tv's.

hope you find good tv :0074

Love my Sony 55, whatever you decide on, check and see if its available at Costco, they double the warranty and have a very generous return policy

consider Sams Club and Costco for your purchase.

return policy is better at these to places than just about any other place of purchase.

example..

Best Buy is only 15 days from purchase..

ya get a 55'' home and realize ya shoulda got the 70'' ..

only 15 days thru most dealers now..ie Best Buy policy confirmed seconds ago

Sams and Costco are still 90 days

SAMS.. Televisions, laptop and desktop computers, projectors, digital music players, cameras, camcorders and other electronics must be returned within 90 days of the original purchase and with a receipt.

Costco.. To keep our costs low, we must insist that the following be returned within 90 days of purchase for a refund: televisions, projectors, computers, cameras, camcorders, touchscreen tablets, MP3 players and cell phones.

we agree,partner....I`m not a huge fan ...lot`s of folks like the brand but I haven`t had much luck with it either...and that goes for sharp and Toshiba(whatever happened to Toshiba?...did they get bought out or merge with another corp?).....don`t hear much from them anymore...

I have had very good luck with Sony's. Owned several of them. My main TV now is a 55 Samsung led Smart. Great TV. The 3D application is really good. Not that we use it that often. A ton of choices out there. I would buy another Samsung. Good luck

I've had several flat screen TVs thru the years. Currently my primary is a Samsung 60" LED similar to this:
http://www.samsung.com/us/video/tvs/UN60H6350AFXZA

Love the TV... some thoughts:
-Think of it as a monitor and try to maximize the video quality specs rather than features;

-Don't spend extra for 3D... we've used it twice in 3yrs or so; Not sure it's even a reg feature anymore

-I like the smart TV options (Netflix and Amazon specifically) but you can get the same functionality from most of the shit you're going to hookup -- bluray, playstation or you can get something like a Roku for $50

-the speakers suck when the TV is so thin so get a soundbar or hookup to stereo

-An articulated wall mount is awesome for rear of TV access and viewing angle versatility. I have one similar to this:
http://www.walmart.com/ip/Atlantic-...ount-Kit-for-37-to-64-Flat-Panel-TVs/21804714

-Assuming you'll be running Netflix or some type of web service but you don't have a convenient wired ethernet port I've had really good luck with ethernet powerline adaptors which run less than $100. Here's a good article explaining the technology and benefit:
http://www.cnet.com/how-to/home-networking-part-7-power-line-connections-explained/

My only complaint about my TV is it does not have a variable audio output.

Samsung TV's are very impressive. I have a Samsung Blueray DVD plugged into my Sony TV, I hate the DVD, functions fine, great resolution and all, but the remote SUCKS!
