I think the most remarkable thing about this thread is the number of well written and well thought out posts.
Hate to sound pompous but I think the majority of bettors posting on this site are twenty somethings with challenged I.Q.'s and I personally tire of the thousands of posts that contain their dribble and dominate this site. This thread reeks of intelligence and maturity and by virtue of that fact is an anomaly of the highest order.
Maybe a new forum could be opened, something like "The Intellectual Bettor" where posters wouldn't post their picks, records or braggadocio but rather a point-counterpoint to various topics. Oh well, one can only dream.........

ironlock i completely agree with you... the real sharp betters put their money on Oakland not KC!... half the people that post in here look at teams records and just take the one that has better records and trends ...they dont look past anything...

How about looking at each individual game on it's merits?? Not that hard, fellas!
I think brick has a good point, that it seems alot of people are failing to adjust to different things. (ie. higher scoring, more passing, away teams etc....whatever!)
My point being, as soon as you 'label' yourself as an x-bettor...you're gunna struggle, IMO.

I think it's very tough to argue with Mr. Majestyk on this one.
You only have to take a randon stab at any post** and see that it is a grammatical and/or spelling nightmare! (I understand people make legitimate errors, but I think you can tell when a person has a basic grasp of the language or not!).
Don't get me wrong. I also understand that this is a gambling forum, so if someone is picking winners then who gives a **** if he passed year 10 English, right?...Well, yes and no!
You only have to look at the posts that scream "10, 20...****ing 50 unit play!" to realise they are not legitimate contributors. They get their 50 unit GOTY up as a winner and they carry on like it's Christmas....lose it and they disappear!
I would be very surprised if anything over 25% of the, ahem, 'contributors' here actually even looked at the NFL stats each week, let alone do any kind of 'research'.

Whether this derives from insecurity or just general meanness is unclear but their rationale is that one with few posts is by definition an unworthy, unintelligent or inexperienced individual. Under that theory if Einstein signed up he would immediately be slammed because he had insufficent posts. That perverse line of "thought" is representative of the most biased and parochial of minds. I've long thought that those who talk the most generally have the least to say.
Maybe someday there will be a board where those who show some restraint in the number and content of their posts will be deemed the best contributors instead of vice versa.
