sweet. not much that hasn't been said, but i might as well throw my two cents in....
during the regular season, seattle only beat one playoff team. that was a home game against the giants that seattle was lucky to win. and we all saw how good the giants really were this year. seattle has only won one game as a dog this year; at st. louis early in the year, and we all saw how good st. louis turned out to be.
i can't think of any major differences between last year's 15-1 pittsburgh team and this year's team. i'm hearing a lot of talk about how 'pittsburgh really isn't that good.' i disagree. i think they are very solid on both sides of the ball.
looking at their paths to the super bowl.... seattle played 2 home games against 1) a banged-up and exhausted washington team and 2) a banged-up carolina team playing it's 3rd straight road game (and then flying across country). pitt WAS the team playing all those road games and then flying across county, winning at cincy, at indy, and at denver. to me, that is a LOT more impressive.
don't get me wrong... seattle had a nice season. they are decent on both sides of the ball. their defense has been a nice surprise. but they haven't faced an offensive line like the steelers'. in fact, the only o line talk i've heard has been about seattle. they certainly have a good line (you don't make the super bowl without a good line), but pitt's line is nasty. they will pound seattle's undersized front 4 into submission. i am a little nervous about willie parker. he came outta nowhere to have a great season, but he's starting to put the ball on the ground. maybe we'll see some duce staley? is he healthy now?
anyways... obviously anything can happen in a football game. and seattle is certainly talented enough to win this game. but i think pitt is hungrier and more talented all-around.
