Upstairs watching sports on the big TV.
Next month I will be "Father of the Bride" walking my God-daughter down the aisle in a Greek Wedding.
I have been advised to bring plenty of "no-doze" for the Greek service.
She is marrying one of the Greek Pastor's sons.

I've booked a few extra days to see Carson City and Lake Tahoe area.

Appreciate any good restaurant, sightseeing, casino tips.
Staying in Sparks, at a Peppermill casino property.

thanx in advance...

Drive from Reno to South Lake Tahoe not bad. Plenty to see around the lake area on both sides of the Nevada/California state lines. Hiking, bike riding, ect. Gambled @ Harvey's, Harrah's, ect on the Nevada side. 72 miles around the lake @ elevations from 6,000 to almost 9,000 feet. Awesome views. On the drive back to Reno, drove through Silver City and Carson City, truly old West mining towns with some original buildings still standing. . Had a drink @ an old bar and enjoyed it, much better than Reno...Hope this helps, Matt

if you like bowling.................

Thanks PAChicky....I actually bowled there with 4 friends in a team tournament back in 1993, it is a bowling stadium, quite unusual.

Unfortunately only had one half day to see the sights and gamble.

I remember the Reno casino people being super friendly.
While once playing blackjack I had a 16, the dealer had a seven showing.
I jokingly asked her if she had a ten, she gave me a big smile and replied "yes".
There was a casino near the bowling arena that upstairs had about 50 functioning mechanical slots (5 cent-10 cent) from the 40's and 50's, that was cool.

I am scouring the internet for "What to do in Reno"

So far the Harrah's car museum with 200+ cars is a must do.
Jay Leno has been sighted there more than once signing autographs.

We are heading back to nationals again next year I think. The only down side of us going is we have to go during our slow time and it's still cold out there. So we can't see any sites. Plus we fly in on a Friday. Bowl on Saturday and fly back out on Sunday. Eventually we will take a vacation out there. It's on my bucket list.

I've gone twice and yes, it's a must see. Mostly because there is nothing else in downtown Reno except bums and casinos.
But seriously, it's a very cool museum and there are a number of one of a kind cars there.

Not sure if you're a micro brew guy, but Sparks has a good one. Great Basin brewing co.

Lake Tahoe is certainly worth the trip and the scenery is amazing.

Enjoy your time out there...:toast:

On one of our bowling trips my wife went along and we stayed in Lake Tahoe. Got up before dawn to drive around the lake. Amazing watching the sunrise up there. We are on the California side when we decide to stop for breakfast. We spot a small cafe with plenty of cars in the lot.
An incredible breakfast-- everything organic and made from scratch. With two mimosas the bill was 60 bucks.....:scared:
