if you see a posted line by a book and you report it before they noticed, should you get something back from them for reporting it?? like maybe a free play or something??

thanks

Short answer.........YES:p

I found a tennis line that was way off........and to make matters worse the match had actually finished........instead of taking the book for over 3000 grand (they admitted that they probably wouldn't have caught the error) I just called em up and told them. They have been "generous" ever since:cool:

But bottom line.......it depends on the book......from what I've heard there are some books out there that deserve you "ripping them off"...........

but as I said..........short answer YES:D

From what I have seen most books will give you a little something for calling in a bad line and most will not honor a bet that was made against a bad line. How often they catch it is a mystery though, I once made a bet on the first half of a game when it was half time thinking it was the second half line, it would have been a winner and I called them as soon as I realized what was going on and they still gave me the win but several days later I saw a post on another board from a guy who was pissed because they cancelled his bet. I figure they cancelled all the bets except mine because I called it in, sucks for everyone else, but like I said I actually made the bet by mistake.

I wish I remember what book it was but I spotted a bad line. Being a true business man I tried to take advantage of it for a couple hundred. WEll, by some miracle my side failed. I tried to get the cash back since it w as a bad line. Heres what these clowns did. They cancelled all bets on the winning side saying it was a bad line but collected all on the wrong side....I couldnt believe it, I explained to them they cant only consider there side the valid side...No luck as they bascily said screw you..bastards.

I have found a few bad lines before, and I place bets on them, as these are lines that are 20 points off, but they found the error before the game started on them, so they just voided the bets.

There was one time I placed the bet on the game before it started, and then game finished, and they void the bet due to a bad line. I know if it would somehow lose, they would count the lose, but always void the winners.

Here is another tangent if you get familiar with a lines maker of book you have had established account with for quite a while.
I will make my standard wager of $50 then report it and as reward they let my bet stand. I don't think they would do this however with any substantial amount.
Best outcome was on $10 place wager in golf @ 14/1 where they had error of win and place odds the same,an obvious error.
They let wager stand and paid.

I reported a bad line to Bowmans last week, it was -15 instead of -7 and they thanked me, and put $50 bones in my account. Class Act.

England, u.k.
It's nice to see some books are Charitable over there in America. I have reported out of line prices to several U.K. books and not received even a thankyou for my troubles. So I decided to play a european football game that one of the bookmakers had the wrong kick-off time and were still taking bets on the match with only 10 minutes left to play. At that time the underdog was winning 3-0 and their price was 9/4 (+225). Without much chance of the result being any different than a win for the dog I bet ?1,000 on the dog. The result remained 3-0 and I won ?2,250 which I withdrew from my account. I sent a cheque off for the sum of the winning amount made payable to a charity of my choice to the bookmaker who made the cock-up with a letter telling them they were still betting when game was nearly finished. They could not report me to police because I did not make to gain anything from it so I deceived no one. The cheque went to the Charity, well if they didn't send it on, the bad publicity wouldn't have been good for them. They wrote back saying they closed my account and my custom was no longer wanted.
On other occassions I have placed a bet on the out of line price and then notified the book. On one or two occassions the book has allowed my bet to stand and then amended their line, but mostly they say the bet is void, stakes returned and price adjusted.
