i have to think USC by double digits (10 to 13). i could be wayy off base, but thought it'd be interesting to see what those "more in tune with cfb than i am" think.

thanks in advance for you thoughts.

Line is already out at USC -6. It was at 6 before the Texas game today, so we may see it go up a point or so by gametime.

this will be the debate of the year here at mj's...texas will be the best team that usc faces all year and with that in mind they will still beat them by 10+....texas is very good and sc is just plain great....love em or hate em?u gotta respect them big time...a person can only sound foolish on here touting any sc opponent as the one thats finally going to beat them....just ask the previous 34 fallen opponents that have tried...the irish came damn close....closer than anyone for the past 2.5 years...i dont think there is another team in the country that could have gone into southbend on that day and beat notre dame...not unlike all the pre-game chatter we were exposed to here last yr against okie about how okie +7 or +7.5 was a gift and okie on the ml was so juicy...well u know how that ended....and absolute thrashing!!texas has a much better offense than okie did and sc's defense was better last yr so therefore i expect plenty on here to bite and get sucked into the + pts...to those that take that plunge i say..."enjoy it" and "good luck"....remember a couple of things before u do:

1)pete carroll with weeks to prepare for any team....absolute money!!!

2)pete carroll vs. mack brown...???...well any questions?? no match!!!

3)mack brown is no bob stoops and stoops got clowned last yr. how many yrs did it take for mack brown to figure out how to beat stoops in the red river shootout?? my point exactly!!

4)sc knows what it takes to win the big ones cuz they have....new territory for texas

i think texas puts up some points on sc but in the end sc's ferrari offense becomes too much for the longhorns and they win by 11 to 15 pts...throw out any past performances by either team all yr....it doesnt mean shit....dont care about texas not destroying a&m today or sc's struggles with fresno st or the irish this yr....those are all meaningless....has history taught us anything?...last yr sc had close game after close game and okie was blowing teams out all yr....and then to the dance where okie got blown out by sc...dont know what the total will be but i like the over whatever and sc laying anything south of 10 pts...good luck whatever u do but remember i told u so :)

Will Texas be the best team USC faces all year? Serious question. What exactly has Texas done to convince you of that. I know they must play the schedule in front of them and for the most part they beat their competition soundly. But with that said, they certainly have not been tested. So my question is, how do you come up with the conclusion Texas will be the best team USC faces all year? People said this about Iowa, Michigan, and OU 3 straight years heading into BCS bowl games. USC all 3 years had easier time beating them than a bunch of teams on their schedule. So what makes Texas different? Texas def. has played the weakest schedule of any of USC's BCS opponents the last 3 years. BTW, I think Texas def. deserves their #2 ranking and going to Rose Bowl. I am just saying it isn't a slam dunk Texas is the best team USC has faced all year.

i dont think there is another team in the country that could have gone into southbend on that day and beat notre dame...

I agree. That is why Leinart is the MVP of USC and Bush is the best player. People say USC would have lost couple games without Bush. (agree) I think USC needs Leianart more than Bush. I much rather have Leinart in Rose Bowl than Bush. Wouldn't even have to think about it. USC does have a talented backup QB too.

not unlike all the pre-game chatter we were exposed to here last yr against okie about how okie +7 or +7.5 was a gift and okie on the ml was so juicy...well u know how that ended....and absolute thrashing!!

You forgot USC vs Michigan and USC vs Iowa. Everyone was all over Iowa and Michigan. Then for 3rd straight year, all over OU.

1)pete carroll with weeks to prepare for any team....absolute money!!!

AND STAFF! :) Staff doesn't get credit they deserve and USC has NFL caliber assistent coaches. Amazing staff. Carroll def. the CEO and DC.

3)mack brown is no bob stoops and stoops got clowned last yr. how many yrs did it take for mack brown to figure out how to beat stoops in the red river shootout?? my point exactly!!

Great point. According to USC players, OU didn't change much of anything with their system. USC had studied inside and out OU offense and #1 goal was take away RB Peterson. After the game, USC D players said they new every play OU ran. Shows how USC is prepared for bowl games. Against Michigan, a Michigan OL was quoted as saying they studied all of USC's blitz schemes in preparation but USC must have thrown a dozen new ones at them they never saw on tape. Point being, USC is not run like a CFB team.

4)sc knows what it takes to win the big ones cuz they have....new territory for texas

I agree. Texas may pee in their pants with all the pressure of that game. Or most likely it will take them 1 quarter to adjust. BUt that may be 1q too long because you need to play USC for 4 quarters. Don't forget Texas has a bad trend of ALWAYS turning the ball over in big games. No bigger game than the BCS NC.

I hope your prediction of USC by double digits comes true! :) Enjoyed reading your post and you backed up your opinions quite well. I am praying USC will be double digit favorites.

I really think the line is going to be a lot lower then what some of you think. I have feeling the line will be USC -4. Personally I am going with the Longhorns plus the points. Both teams are very good in my opinion but the difference is there is a reason why a team has not 3-peated that is because its damn near impossible. The odds are against USC. My bets are Texas, the Over, Teaser with Texas and the Over, and I'm going to parlay the three.

1) i think i'm gonna have to agree with this. i know brown, chizik and company will do a good job preparing but i suspect usc will do better.

2) sheesh. this is getting old. mack isnt good enough. mack cant win the big one....blah blah blah. see mack's record on the road the past few years. look at the rose bowl last year. look at ohiost this year. he still needs to get over the Stoops hump (this year really doesnt count IMO) but he doesnt suck ass like everyone seems to think he does.

3) maybe it's a GOOD thing brown isnt stoops. seeing how stoops did vs USC last year. comparing them is irrelevant. and if you think stoops is so great, look at his record vs OkSt and then look at UTexas' record. Stoops couldnt friggin beat LES MILES!!!!

4) the rose bowl last year. the ohiost game this year. every time they suited up for the UT/OU game. they HAVE played in the big one before.
they havent played for a nat'l championship, but they've played in many big games before.

your argument is that texas isnt good enough and that texas coaching isnt good enough. i think they are good enough and they have proved it year in and year out. i believe texas is the only team to have 10 wins that past 5 years? i could be wrong about that stat.

an example of being well coached....texas has the most blocked kicks of any div 1 school since 2000. they are well coached. everyone raves about Beamer's team on special teams but texas is better when it comes to blocking kicks/punts.

i think the concept to keep in mind is that USC is a BETTER team....that's why they will win.

texas can score on usc. EVERYONE has scored on usc. texas will be able to occastionally stop usc on offense even though few teams could (cal did a pretty good job). i think the big reason usc wins will be their advantage in turnovers and penalties.

i think the only way texas can win this is if somehow Chizik comes up with some magic on defense....i'm not sure he can do it, but i dont think texas will be able to match usc score for score

-- I AM AWARE THAT YOU ARE QUITE FAMILIAR WITH USC. IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS CFB SEASON MANY WERE TOUTING THE USC DEFENSE AS BEING ATLEAST EQUAL TO LAST YEARS UNIT (WHICH WAS GREAT). THEY HAD AN UNUSUAL AMOUNT OF KEY INJURIES ON THAT UNIT EARLIER THIS SEASON. I READ THAT MANY OF THE INJURED PERSONNEL WILL BE ABLE TO RETURN FOR THE BCS. TO WHAT EXTENT IS THIS TRUE, BECAUSE IF THEIR DEFENSE IMPROVES EVEN SLIGHTLY THEY WILL ABSOLUTELY DECIMATE TEXAS.

THANX FOR YOUR OPINIONS
