Vince Young gave us a little taste yesterday of what he will do under a little pressure. I thought he blew whatever chance he had to win the Heismann. He looked very average against a very average Texas A&M defense. If you count his fumbles, less than average.

USC in a route. Carroll over Brown is worth 3 TDs at least.

"how many yrs did it take for mack brown to figure out how to beat stoops in the red river shootout?? my point exactly!!"

uhh...that would be exactly ONE, Borwn beat Stoops in their first meeting

" But with that said, they certainly have not been tested.
so now playing in the Shoe at night against a very good Ohio St. team is not a test?

USC should win this game, and probably will, but some of you don't know near as much as you think you do

I don't have an opinion on this matchup, but I find it humorous that "Scott4USC" has broken down "LetsEats" post as methodical as he would a box score..... :mj07:

It wasn't verbatim, but close.... :)

This will really get interesting after USC gets past UCLA and all the 'necks start pounding their chests in support of Texas. The barbs will fly and the stats will be twisted into meaningless equations, all aimed toward the posters predicted outcome.

All of you bull riding, pick-up driving, boot wearing, belt buckle collecting, shot gun owning 'necks had better get your thoughts together because I'm sure Scott will have his notes at hand and I, for one, am ready to let the show begin.....

yes tom ur right....in 1999 which was stoops 1st yr at ou....but then mack got worked for the next 5 yrs consecutively with arguably better teams and more talent....my point was simple.....prior to this yr,mack brown lost 5 out of 6 red river shootouts against stoops which is clearly indicative of whos the better coach especially when most of those texas teams were better than than okies were....certainly wouldnt call macks win in 1999 figuring out stoops when he proceeded to lose 5 straight after that....its no secret that mack brown was considered bob stoops bitch prior to this yr

Please make Texas +300 ML underdogs! :mj09:

Wasn't Ohio St. +13 underdogs to Miami in that BCS NC game?

If USC smokes UCLA, I think there is chance USC could be 10pt favorites.

USC opened -23 against a 1 loss #12 ranked BCS opponent UCLA. Line is now -21. So maybe chop that in half against Texas if USC smokes UCLA and covers the spread.

Texas will be the 4th best team USC has played this year...

1. ND
2. Oregon
3. UCLA

USC will beat texas by at least 21 pts. They just have too many weapons. V. Young will need a huge game scrambling or it won't be close. He simply is not accurate passing the ball.

LOL LOL LOL yeah and Stanford was the second best team NDplayed. Texas would beat ND no doubt. Better D, Better O Better special teams. Better star. Anyone who says different is denying the stats.

Texas had a tough time verses Aand M did they? Well how tough a time did ND have against Stanford. Enough said.

Dont even fool yourself with the ducks. Just barely got by Fresno St. and Cal woo hoo.
And saying UCLA is better than Texas is laughable.

Bob Stoops anyone? Oh by the way, who has texas lost to this year? Can't be said about any of those other teams listed.

11 point margin of victory over the aggies playing the game of their life in a rivalry game was the closest a team has played to Texas. that cannot be said about any other team in the country.

Texas loses the title game because they were out coached that would be the only reason. They have a better D. An as close to an offense as SCs as you are going to find.

Better Offense than ND - Sure Buddy

I will take Weis, Quinn, Smardizja, Stovall, and Fassano over anything that Texas has to offer... We shall see how tough Texas is in the Championship game...

USC - 7

USC - 7

line out, game on!

called my local, 7 it is...for now. think it only goes up in the next 30 days. no other way to play it. too much talent on offense. too balanced on both sides of the ball.

USC -7 10 X

good luck to all:)

USC will beat Texas by double digits

MC surpised with your pick here, thought you being in the mid-west and all you would go with the Longhorns, but then I realize your prob one of the brightest cappers here...USC has so many dimensions to barrage Texas...yes they will say "USC defense has weaknesses and Texas is solid on D etc.", but the fact of the matter is USC's defense may be young, but they have the speed and talent to shut down Vince Young. On the other hand, I dont know if the Dallas Cowboys defense could stop Reggie Bush. Ever since I saw this kid play in 7th grade, I knew he was special. Amazing to see where he is now, and WHAT HE IS DOING...I lost a pretty big bet today on UCLA, and actually didn't care which is rare for a big bet just because I got to see someone I grew up around do things only a guy named Barry Sanders did better

the line seems to have settled at 6.5 (or so for a while) and will be interesting to see which way the public truly believes it will go ... Im not sure but once heard that state of Texas bets as much or more than any state on fball, so be intriguing to see if that FX anything

Vanbasten too bad you didnt save yourself the 1/2 pt. at SB.com

This thread is something to behold.

Love is blind, and apparently so are the supporters of either team. A little objectivity goes a long way in 'capping, and I think fans of both sides will end up being amazed at how good their opponents are.

1) Texas hasn't seen anything like USC this year ( or ever)
2) USC hasn't seen anything like this Texas team, in the 3 yr run.

For all of the talk of what an inferior conference the 'Horns played in, the Big 12( 4th-rated) rates a hair behind the Pac-10 ( 3rd-rated).

For all of the talk of how USC played a much more difficult schedule, it should be noted that each team played 6 bowl teams on their schedule this year Texas played 6 bowl teams in 7 games), and of course won every game. Texas Strength of Schedule rated #33 in the country, while USC 's rated #20. Not a whole heckuva big difference, if you ask me.

Texas was 10-2 ATS , as opposed to 6-6 for Troy.

Texas outscored its 12 opponents by 50.9 to 14.6, while USC romped on their foes by an avg of 50.0 to 21.3.

The scores v the six bowl teams?

Texas beat Ohio St (@ OSU) by 1

Oklahoma ( by 33)

Colorado ( by 25 and 67)

Texas Tech ( by 35)

Kansas ( by 52)

Missouri ( by 31)

USC also impressed when pressed:

Beat Fresno( by 8)

Beat ND (by 3)

Beat Ucla ( by 47)

Beat Cal ( by 25)

Beat Oregon ( by 32)

Beat Arizona St ( by 10)

The point is, these are by far the two best teams in the country this year, and we should be glad we are getting this matchup. There will be so much debate for the next 30 days that most of us will be tired of talking about it by then, if we aren't already.

These are two virtually unstoppable offenses who have a month each to try to come up with a plan that will temporarily thwart the opponent. And then it is ON!

I have to laugh each time I read the analysis by so-called unbiased "fans" who probably are so focussed and jacked up about their own team that they neglect to realistically consider the other team.

Personally, I think Texas surprises the Trojans in a close one, but my opinion will prbably flip-flop 9 or 10 times in the 30-day interim.

Fortunately there will be plenty of other stuff top talk about in the interim.

Peace , my brethren
