I've read about that oyster dressing for years. Been wanting to try it for a long time!
I was on the road Thanksgiving Day. Only town of any size I drove by in the day was Fort Stockton, TX. And only place to eat open in town was the truckstop buffet. But they did have fine turkey and (cornbread) stuffing on it with real mashed potatoes and the old ladies there did a fine job with the homemade giblet gravy. $8.95
They coarsely chopped some of the giblets in gravy, so it had nice big bursts of giblet flavor when you forked up a random chunk....fine homemade pumpkin pie too!
Made good time driving tho. How do ya'll like this speed limit?
Of course, this speed limit on I-10 doesn't make up for the fact that I hadda drive almost 600 miles from Austin, TX to El Paso, TX thru this seemingly barren country.
biggest town you come across is Ft. Stockton, 7,400 souls.
Once I drove from my bro's in Portland, Maine south to Boston, New York City, Philadelphia and Atlantic City----and that was less miles this Austin to El Paso drive! Also, Austin is in central Texas. Much longer time to drive across entire state on I-10.
today in Las Cruces for first post Thanksgiving meal I had this excellently spiced brisket burrito with slaw in flour tortilla. Did a few minutes research online to find out what the local foodies liked.
