i heard today that puerto rico is allowed to vote in the primaries but not allowed to vote in the general election.....what's that about ?

i suspect that will change in the near future....
there are conflicting movements at work...those pushing for statehood...and those pushing for total independence....
i think the issue will resolve itself in the not to distant future....
btw,the independents(as of this writing),are in the distinct minority...
i believe they are social security eligible and quite dependent on american largesse,so independence would be a rough road....they`re overpopulated with few natural resources and would suffer the same economic hardships as many other latin american countries...
"independence" without american aid would probably be disastrous...and most of the people understand this...
