minimum wage is such a joke, if you work fulltime at that wage you need income credit in the form of tax credits just to have a liveable wage. and who pays for that - yet again - it's all of us.
why can't we just have an enforced reasonable mimum wage that allows people money to live on and doesn't require the rest of us to compensate for companies not willing to pay fair labor wages?

this is a tough option when illegals are lowering the standard of what people should be paid. not everyone is as brilliant, resourceful, and lucky as the people on this board. Some people simply don't have an incredible amount of options. I don't want to pay to support them any more than you. That's exactly why I want their wages higher instead of the tax system supplementing them.dr. freeze said:if someone doesnt pay you well, work somewhere else
smurphy said:exactly! when it comes to minimum wage, the government ends up spoon-feeding to supplement the shortfall minimum wage leaves in terms of a liveable wage.
i don't want the government to have to give anybody much of anything really.
Raise the wage, eliminate EIC, and as a very non-liberal proposal I would seriously cut back on unemploymeny benefits. make the wage decent enough so that people have no excuse not to replace their job when they lose it. Maybe just a month or 2 to replace it.
My plan would seriously cut down what the government gives out.

StevieD said:Admit it the plan didn't work. You guys are cutting veteran's benefits while the deficit is out of control. On top of that inflation is kicking in. The rich didn't create any new jobs after getting their tax cut. Read my lips. IT DIDN"T WORK. After two wars I would hope that the economy would be much better than this. But you can't even properly fund the war. Great time to cut taxes. Maybe they don't tell you this on Fox but wars are usually good for the economy. They create jobs. Without it where would this one be?
