When you watch these games on a computer...

...and are watching real time stats....

How can any of these teams get into a flow? The time-outs are insane - they play for a couple of minutes and there is a TV time out - a couple more, then another time out..

It must be frustrating for the kids on the court - I know it is for a fan.

Louisville has scored 6 points in the last 12 minutes - the refs won't let them play - the networks won't let them play.... sometimes it is a joke

I feel you and I've complained for years.

The usual reaction I get is how great it all is.

A normal NFL game has way worse flow than a Super Bowl 25 years ago. But nobody cares. Everyone seems to be keeping up with multiple games and fantasy teams....

I've recently been able to watch NFL package on a regular basis....its pretty good...but there are times even with 10 games going on....the action completely stops. Its terrible.

But yeah, back to NCAA basketball. Not only are there tv timeouts EVERY FOUR MINUTES....I mean, give me a break. But, if there is a team timeout instead....then they still take the tv timeout, which could be a few seconds later.

IT........SUCKS. Its total garbage but the fans won't stop going and won't stop paying. And it won't get any better.

I've started to appreciate the high school game (football anyway) where there are no stoppages and its a very fast moving game.

THAT'S exactly what kills me - if a team takes a time-out 2 minutes before a scheduled TV TO - they still take it... they used to combine them, but no more.

I saw it coming years ago. I remember the way the super bowl was back when I was in high school (late 80s, early 90s) and every year there was more of a "lack of flow" to the game.

But then it got into the season. Timeouts after the kickoff pissed me off bad. You just took a timeout after the score. The commercial breaks were longer. Games started taking 3 1/2 hours to play.

So what do they do....they change the clock rules. And then the games gradually still get longer and longer. They made halftime 12 minutes and if you notice, the refs make sure to keep the clock running any time they can. A guy goes out of bounds.....forward progress stopped..run it.

Sorry to take your thread toward football....I just saw it even more there. Basketball is just as bad. They talk about depth.....how do 20-year old guys get tired in these games.

There are 10 timeouts between the 2 teams and a tv timeout every 4 minutes. Its absurd.

I'm with you on football - it seems they try really hard to speed up the game, but end up using any time saved for interruptions (commercials)

Don't get me started on Super Bowl halftime shows - I loved when the show Living Color used to have a show the coincided with half-time so you could leave the network and watch the Wayan's brothers kick ass....

I don't mind the halftimes....to an extent. Its the in-game stoppages. Punt, timeout, 3-and out punt, timeout, touchdown, timeout, kickoff, timeout....where's the game??

On a similar note...record one of those morning shows (Today, Good Morning America, etc) and see just how damn many commercials there are. I don't care about watching them anyway (or recording since I work during the day) but its unreal and yet people watch....

I love my DVR - But when I have money on something - I can't have 10 minute old information - OH GOD the Today show is full of commercials - and sometimes the segments are glorified commercials - if they are touting an NBC program, or one of the many things GE/Universal (now add Comcast) has their fingers in.... It's a joke!

I agree with the DVR but only to a certain point as ivabign says too. Its a great tool but not perfect.

If its one game, then its really good but if I'm with others...everyone's got a smart phone, etc.

I'll use it sparingly. Something like college football helps to work itself out b/c I've always liked flipping back and forth. I still hate the "lack of flow" but for me its a little easier with college football.

I don't care much for the NFL anymore until the playoffs. I would have NEVER thought that possible but Fantasy is what keeps me involved. I do bet on NFL but not a whole lot and could easily give up the entire regular season were it not for Fantasy. Sad but true.

Used to love NBA but at this point will watch a few reg season games, a few 1st round games...but I do still get sucked in once the 2nd round starts. Miss the 80s and 90s and even the early 2000s a bit.

College basketball. Love it but don't watch as much as I used to. Gambling makes me watch more than anything other than UNC games and then of course March Madness.

After too much college bball you start to realize that the athleticism has become great but everything else is just playground bullshit and a lot of guys just trying to manipulate contact to get calls....which are very inconsistent. I try not to watch too much before March b/c all the bullshit will burn me out.

Long post I know but will finish up strong lol

Love the college game but dying for some rule changes. 35-second clock is a joke. Should be 25 but I'd settle for 30. 5-second closely guarded...get rid of this archaic idiotic rule. Back the 3-pt line up to 22-feet. NCAA tourney? Its exciting as hell but its also a shame to have a team dominate all year and have one bad night. Basketball isn't football. Maybe a double elimination tourney or a combination of that and then play best of 3 series toward the end. It is fun though but its not fair.

One last thing I'd like to see is to increase to 22-minute halves and let players foul out with 6 fouls. Off the ball fouling at end of games needs to stop as well. I don't want the college game to turn completely into the pro game but it does need to evolve..

Movie is before my time but I know what it is...lol

Just to add my 2 cents I watched the Duke/Md game and was so mad that the ref's were doing everything in their power to give that game to Duke...I cringe on every whistle thinking oh no another bad call...And you know the old feeling that television wants ratings and Duke fits that bill...It starting to get fustrating
