So Cal
Attendance at movies is down and this may be the biggest reason why. It is hard to go to a movie now unless you are willing to get into a brawl after telling someone to be quiet.

i only go to the first showtimes in afternoon and have never had the problem. i'm usually the only one there plus a few others.

i wouldn't even consider an 8pm or 10pm show ;)

Add to that advice:

Turn off your friggin' cellphone...don't put it on vibrate, dammit, turn it off! If you're so important that you must be contacted within that small window of time, don't go the damned movie!

Leave the damned baby/kid(s) at home! If you can't afford a babysitter, you can't afford to go to the movies! Wait the 5-6 months until it comes out on DVD and watch it at home!

i won't even consider going to the movies when school is out. mid week, 1st show, period. i'm even disappointed if one person is ahead of me for my popcorn. i HAVE to have popcorn at the movies :D

not to mention, i'll fall asleep at the night show anyway :mj07:

nothing is more annoying than people who answer their phones with a loud tone. STFU!!!
I never say anything as I have seen fights come from it 9girls are the worst), usually someone will get security and they handle it.

agree with most of the comments, but I like going to a big movie on opening night when there's a big crowd sometimes too. One of the best movie experiences was when I saw Pet Cemetary on opening night. The crowd gasps and jumping at scary scenes is priceless.

Same for me with Scream! I needed a nap after the first 15 minutes of that freaking movie!

and Doc...you are right....sometimes best to get security or usher or manager or whatever......I'm not one for a big brawl in a movie theatre:scared

AMEN, sister. Well said. The latest thing is the teenagers texting during the movie so their cell screen light is constantly popping up. The parents of these selfish, inconsiderate brats need to be beaten. I'll give people a little leeway, but if the noise continues...I'm not letting some snot-nosed teenager dictate my movie experience. Seems to me that if more people would speak up when others are behaving badly, maybe we'd have less of these problems?

Can people just sit and quietly masterbate at the theater like they use to?
