Medicaid Patients

You would think that when your party is burying a hole that is getting harder and harder to get out of, you wouldn't want to that hole get deeper faster. But here is Kathleen Murphy, Democrat running for the House of Delegates against Barbara Comstock, telling a forum in Great Falls that she believes it should law to force doctors to accept Medicare and Medicaid patients. Forced by government decree, mind you. A birdie sent me this:

FYI last night at the Great Falls Grange debate, Democrat delegate candidate Kathleen Murphy said that since many doctors are not accepting medicaid and medicare patients, she advocates making it a legal requirement for those people to be accepted.

She did not recognize that the payments are inadequate to cover the doctors' costs. She also did not recognize there is a shortage of over 45,000 physicians now and that it is forecast to be 90,000 in a few years.

Democrats appear to want to make physicians slaves of the state, but Democrats don't admit they would just drive more doctors out of practice into retirement and other occupations. The Obamacare law and regulations are causing millions of people to lose their health insurance, drop many doctors and hospitals. The HHS internal forecast is 93 million Americans would lose their health insurance due to the Obamacare law and rules about adequacy of insurance.

Many more people will be uninsured. The penalties for being uninsured start at $95 per year, but the penalties can't be collected by the IRS if a person does not have a tax refund to attach.

.....................................................................................................................................

make it law

all doctors must accept medicare Medicaid

so what the benefits aren't as much . these fawkers have been killing Americans with their bills for too many years.

We only need doctors that want to serve and help ppl not to be billionaires.

Let registered nurses take over doctors roles . They can do 90% of it anyway. Refer patients that need other care.

greed is rampant in doctors offices

let the rich ones leave and do something else

duhh they have nothing else to do really

You don't have to make it a law. Just put everyone on Medicare. Doctors can then exercise their free will. Doctors can accept Medicare payment rates, or they can look for rich folks who will pay whatever they ask.

Or they can work the night shift flipping burgers.

I'm on Medicare, and I see the bills. A surgeon bills $6000 for a half hour. Medicare offers him $600. He grabs it. He doesn't have to, he can turn it down, and get nothing.

Would you work for $1200/hour?

So will surgeons.

I would say RNs could do a lot of it, 90% maybe a little high but not too far off. We could take over for just plain general conditions and refer to specialized care

the only problem is then we would have some Registered nurse's that would start their own clinics, hire other reg nurses and the greed could overtake them and we would be back to square one.

A Nurse Practitioner is a registered nurse with some additional training. They are allowed to do almost anything a physician can do, including diagnosis, ordering tests, prescribing meds, minor surgery. NPs make about $100K, half what family doctors make, and they can do 90% of the work.

Family doctors are what is in short supply. They mostly work long hours, seeing 30+ patients a day, and they earn on average about $200K. Surgeons, who might actually work 25 hours/week, get $400K. Even Radiologists, who usually do nothing but sit at a desk and look at pictures get $350K.

That's why there are too few Family doctors and too many specialists. Pay rates need to be changed.

I'm shocked that doctors earn 200-400k. I assumed they earned double that amount...

I think that their pay scale would be highly dependent on their expertise as well as where they are practicing. As an average though, I don't believe that it's too far off.

Peace! :)

you're not counting the under the table money they get from pill mfg for using their meds on patients

or the money they manage to skim off medicare and Medicaid

or the other bribes that have been going on in the medical field that we have no clue about

I think 300-500 easily for a gen practioner in the right place

there are so many ways to make money in that field and hide it.

doctors are so overworked, they are killing themselves caring for all the patients, they work 14 hrs on and 14 hrs off, doctors are on call 24 hrs a day. Doctors really have it rough. Doctors get paid well but wow do they have some hard days. and on and on...............

I have not heard that mentioned in many years now

Growing up, I can attest to my mom doing this for many years. On certain days, she even stayed/slept at the hospital. She's had different gigs in the past few years, so her hours have become more "regular."

Peace! :)
