Funny to see the Sox in their big inning on Thursday. Game tied 2-2, lead run on first and their leadoff man can't get a bunt down (Jimenez had no idea). He gets a walk anyway. Same thing happens to #2 Valentin. He gets bailed out by a walk, too. Frank Thomas swings at 3-0 pitch that was ball 4. He gets walked, too. 6 runs later in that inning the game was over.
The point is : Sox still can't do the little things, they are still a team made for hitting getting by with strong pitching performances from their 3-5th starters. The bullpen has improved as of late but their defense has been surprisingly solid this year but both will be put to the test with the bounces of the MetroDome and the spacious outfield.
Normally, it's feast or famine for the Sox, but I think that this series will be full of tight games and I'm still convinced that the Sox don't have what it takes to win these types of games.
