Sox finally get to see a lefty starter and one with an ERA over 7 at that. Sox batters have hit .397 against Davis in his career (only 68 ABs, though) and Davis has shown no signs this year that he's improving.
The problem with being a Sox pitcher is that you've seen the defense on the field over the last week and you think that you've got to do it yourself. Wright's problems last night were caused by ineffective control because he tried to be perfect. Manuel refuses to blame the defense and thinks that all of the problems will go away with hitting and that's why no emphasis is put on the defense and you end up with Valentin at short and Daubach in right field. (Valentin probably won't start tonight as he's hitting terribly from the right side).
