Season Record 6-7 -2.46 units
Tigers (Sparks) +190 1 unit
The teams that traditionally beat up on the Sox are the ones that are fundamentally sound and do the little things which give the Sox trouble. While the White Sox have beaten the Tigers this season 4 of 5, this Tigers team is not the same one that the White Sox saw in April. The only loss this season to the Tigers was when Sparks beat them in Comiskey. Of the 8 starters that the White Sox have that have faced Steve Sparks over 20 times, only Magglio is hitting over .300, the rest combine at .224 in their careers.
Buerhle has been the White Sox best pitcher by far but he has given up 5 runs (3 earned) in his last start against the Angels and is facing a Detroit team that is the winner of six straight.
The concerns I have is that the White Sox have been outstanding at Comiskey this year (15-7) while the Tigers have been just as awful on the road (4-18). But after a nice home stand, the young Tiger team may have the motivation to show that they can take their game on the road. Small tidbit: Buerhle hasn?t faced the Tigers this year, but he was mentioned in their last series when Buerhle mocked Lima from the dugout for complaining to the ump about a call. The Tigers probably hate Lima more than anybody, but he is a teammate.
The Tigers have more motivation, are playing their best ball of the season, and are at a nice price.
