White Sox (Buerhle) +110 1 unit

Like the Sox stopper to come in and salvage a game from this series. A defeat would be devastating for the White Sox and the Yankees have to feel that they've gotten everything that they wanted out of this series and more. Don't know where I read it and couldn't find any information on it when I just researched it, but I believe that Clemens changed his training regimen and took a few day off to avoid burnout earlier this week.

Manuel cannot handle a pitching staff. He blew it again last night; leaving Garland in too long, then brings in a bum lefty (Marte) rather than a decent RHer (Howry). Only problem is Jerry must've forgot Bernie Williams is a switch hitter and he can hit from the RH side as well. Manuel ALWAYS plays the lefty/righty percentages, and his relievers often only face 1 hitter. That may explain all the arm problems their pitchers have had in the past 2 years. But the players like him, and its not PC to rip him. His laid-back attitude cost the team last year and even if they win the Central there's no way they get past teams like NYY or Seattle.

I don't get to down on Manuel either. It's probably due to the fact that he is such a nice guy and compared to some of the boneheads that the Sox have had, it's hard to be that critical.

I agree that this Sox team is just not built to be successful in the playoffs, much like the Indians of the late 90's. You can't keep hitting in the cold of September when the other team keeps bringing in a fresh pitcher once you start getting to the guy on the mound.

Manuel in the dugout he looks as if he is in a coma. But compared to the Terry Bevington era, this guy is the finest manager in MLB history.

Did I see that one of you guys once said you were 40 minutes Southwest of Wrigley Field? That put you anywhere near Downers Grove? My brother lives there--makes going into the city a real easy trip when you can leave your car at the train station right there in town.

I like the Yankees to finish off the sweep tonight. AS much as I like Mags, Konerko and the Big Hurt, this team just doesn't have the pitching to compete with the big boys in the AL. Winning their division shouldn't be too tough, but I can't see them advancing in the playoffs.

Good luck with your plays......

Actually Redsfann, Bevington is the bonehead that I was referring to. I live in the city, so its not me that your thinking of. Love visiting Iowa, but there's more Cubs fans there than on the North Side :)

I would hope that the Sox have enough pitching tonight, but in a series, I totally agree with you

Well, he did it again. As boneheaded as his moves Tuesday night were, Manuel once again showed he is overmatched. Buerhle had 105 pitches thru 7 innings and had hit the 117-119 mark on a number of occasions last year. Let him start the 8th inning. If he gives up a leadoff walk or HR, take him out. Otherwise there's no reason to panic. Buerhle is by far their best pitcher and it was asking too much for Foulke to pitch 2 innings. Ironically, Manuel screwed up last night the opposite way he did on Tuesday. He left Garland in way too long, and pulled Buerhle too soon. Manuel must think Garland is the All-Star and Buerhle the inconsistent 3rd starter.
