I think I may be spending too much time capping football to continue to be successful at baseball. If I get below 5 units, I?ll probably call it a season. Can?t pick my ass right now.
But . . . with that said, I really, really, really like this play today.
Buerhle has been great as of late. The Tigers have never been able to hit him well (8 scoreless innings this year and 2.15 ERA from 2000-2002 in 9 starts) and have only 4 wins against lefties all year. Buerhle, the lateness of the game last night along with the fact that Sanders, White and Koch (the worst of the Sox relief) were all used last night makes me think that the Tigers will be pressed to score 2 runs.
Tigers will send a rook to the hill, which, as I?ve said before, always gives the Sox problems. He?s pitched well against them out of the pen this year (5.0 innings. 3 hits, 1 run) He?s a righty and has played very well over his last 3 starts. Lots of pressure on the Sox to hit right now and clutch hitting has been a problem all year long. The bats will be gripped a little tighter tonight.
