FULL PEN: Keith Foulke is due back today after missing the Boston series because of the death of his grandfather.

Bob Howry probably won't be available after working three innings Sunday, but Manuel said Gary Glover will be.

TIME TO HEAL: Jose Valentin, bothered by a sore right hamstring, and catcher Sandy Alomar Jr., nursing tendinitis in his left knee, were out of the lineup again Sunday. For Alomar, it was the third straight absence, though he said he was better Sunday.

''I'll probably play in Cleveland,'' he said.

Manuel said Valentin also is likely to miss today's game against Cleveland left-handed starter C.C. Sabathia.

Jeff Liefer also was out on Sunday against Boston knuckleballer Tim Wakefield. ''He's getting his swing back and he'll see a 90-mph thrower [today in Sabathia]. Facing that 75-mph [knuckleball] could mess him up for a few days.''
