White Sox win coin tosses in wild card scenarios
NEW YORK (Ticker) - The Chicago White Sox have their sights set
on a division title. But even if they are forced to play a
one-game playoff for the American League wild card, they will
get to stay at home.
Major League Baseball conducted two more coin tosses on
Wednesday to determine sites for potential two-team tiebreakers
and the White Sox won both, giving them home games against both
the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees in a possible one-game
playoff.
The White Sox (94-63) own the best record in the AL, but have
just a two-game lead over Cleveland (92-65) in the Central
Division with five games remaining. After playing at Detroit
Wednesday and Thursday, the White Sox will finish the regular
season with a three-game series at Cleveland.
The Red Sox (92-65) and Yankees (92-65) are tied for first place
in the American League East.
Any one-game tiebreaker would be scheduled for Monday, October
3.
