Bin Laden attacked the World Trade Center in 1993 and Bill Clinton didn't do jack-shit about it.

Why do you liberals fail to ever mention this?? It's just BLAME BUSH!!

All Clinton did was fire a couple peashooter shots into an Afghan training camp. BIG WOW!! He probably just showed UBL that we are pussies and he could get away with it again. Then Sandy Burger went to Clinton 3 or 4 different times and told him we had a shot to take out Bin Laden. We had him in our crosshairs. Clinton, being the liberal pussy he is, balked!! He didn't go after UBL.

The results occured on 9/11.

Nice job Clinton!!

Oh well, who cares...it's all on Bush now since 9/11 occurred on "his watch" right?? Hey at least Bush was man enough to go into Afghanistan and overthrow the Taliban. Clinton didn't do jackshit. But I know, it doesn't matter to the liberals - they all are in denial. This forum is a perfect example.

Agree Marco----I do have one nagging question that has always puzzeled me--and I know I'm going to catch hell for this---How does a handful of people armed only with box cutters, take over a jet that had to have at least 50 men minimum on board.

They probably were told that they would be o.k. and they weren't in danger. The Pennsylvania flight had passengers who were able to contact some people who were on the ground and they knew they were in danger. I believe that the PA flight was shot down - nothing to back it up besides some people in Cleveland and Erie who saw fighters in pursuit, but it just makes more sense to me.

other than a few instances, i actually liked clinton as president...thought that the republicans were wrong in going after him.

however, his reaction to the 1993 bombing was very weak.....i think at that time the military should have gone full force after those thugs. maybe that would have prevented 9/11.

Bobby- that possibility has long seemed likely to me (regarding the PA flight) as well.

DTB- My assumption is that the hijackers probably told them there was a bomb on board and that they were doing this to try to get some arrested national released or something of that nature. The reaction of the people on board would be to just do whatever they say so the bomb wasn't blown up, and hope it had a safe ending.

Pre-9/11, if I'd been onboard, I probably would've just thought they were trying to use the hijacking to muscle something they wanted out of the U.S., and not to use the plane as a missle.

On the shot down theory-- I alluded to that right after the fiasco--my reasoning was the wreckage was shown shortly after and tail section was quite a distance from rest of wreckage--which I thought strange.

Logical assumption that passengers might not have thought they were in danger--What ever the reason the terrorist read their probable reactions correctly on all but the PA flight.

DJV - don't get what you mean? This is from BBC/News

In Context
In May 1994, four men - Mohammed Salameh, Nidal Ayyad, Mahmud Abouhalima and Ahmad Ajaj - were sentenced to life for bombing the World Trade Center, which killed six people and injured 100.
In October 1995 Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman, a blind cleric who preached at mosques in Brooklyn and Jersey City, was sentenced to life for masterminding the bombing,.

He was also found guilty of the murder of extremist Rabbi Meir Kahane and a scheme to assassinate Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak during a trip to New York in 1993.

The bombing of the World Trade Center has been totally eclipsed by the events of 11 September 2001 which saw thousands killed, the collapse of both Twin Towers and an all-out "war on terror" declared by the Western world.

Rahman's organisation, the Islamic Group, is believed to have links to Osama Bin Laden's al-Qaeda network, accused of carrying out the 11 September attacks.

DJV - Were you saying that Bin Laden was not involved in the 1993 attack on WTC? This is from The Rational Radical which is about as far left as you can get. Sorry if I misunderstood.

World Trade Center Attack: bin Laden & Taliban Afghanistan

World Trade Center!
Osama bin Laden!
Taliban!
Afghanistan!
These words are now on everyone's lips and in everyone's mind.

The horror of the World Trade Center attack is matched only by the hatred Americans rightly feel towards Osama bin Laden.

The Taliban Afghanistan government is also properly despised for its support of bin Laden.

The mass media has labeled these acts of terrorism "Attack on America," and the cable channels provide us 24/7 coverage of the World Trade Center attacks, Taliban Afghanistan, and the U.S. response.

How about an analysis going beyond the mass media frenzy? A few examples:

Get bin Laden and the Taliban, But Spare the Innocent Women and Children!
Bin Laden and the Taliban must surely be punished for their evil deed, the World Trade Center attack! But we are not evil! Let's do it properly.

Afghanistan's infrastructure does not have the same role that Germany's did in World War II, and should not be bombed like Germany's was. See World Trade Center Attack #1.

In eliminating bin Laden and the Taliban, we must cut through the media rhetoric concerning when it's supposedly "okay" to kill innocent civilians, women and children in Afghanistan. See World Trade Center Attack #2.

Bin Laden is Frankenstein: Let's Be Smart!
Bin Laden in Afghanistan was financed by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency for many years. This means we must now be very careful in our response to bin Laden, to avoid creating a future bin Laden, a future Taliban and future horrors like the World Trade Center attack. For an overall progressive analysis, see World Trade Center Terrorism #1.

The World Trade Center attack need never have happened:

Taliban Afghanistan and bin Laden need never have become threats. At the appropriate time, let's seriously study our foreign policy since World War II, and figure out how to create a truly safe, just world. See World Trade Center Terrorism #2.

Ferd, Mason said nothing was done. Your info above show's that there are 5 in jail for life. The tie in with Bin was not ever made totally clear. But it may have gave him the idea to do 9/11. But Mason with his BS of course never mentions the 5 brought to justice and in jail. So his first post that we did nothing of course is wrong.
