I've just started playing this game at the casino, mostly because it looked fun and I'm getting tired of playing poker. Live poker, outside of tournaments, is actually pretty boring.

Craps is great if you are at a table full of fun people. I know the game is not beatable, like I said I go just to have some fun these days.

A couple things I don't understand about the game/lingo. I' sure there will be more, but here's what I am curios about right now:

Why does the hard 10 pay less than the hard 8 when there are equal ways to win each bet?

What is a "two-way fire bet"?

And what does it mean when someone says "place the 8 for the boys, I control the action"?

Thanks

They are placing a bet for "The Boys". Geesh

A tip/bet for the dealers.

There are more soft 8's than soft 10's. :0008

Easier to lose the hard 8 bet.

Yea, that makes sense.

So a bet for the boys is a bet for the dealers, right? I still don't know if "I control the action" means anything.

I am definitely not a craps guy but control the action means you can take it down anytime, I imagine.

When you normally place a bet for the crew, it's one and done; If it loses, obviously it's over, and if it wins they take the winnings plus the bet and drop it. I would assume then that by controlling the action the player decides whether to keep the bet up, press it, or take it down altogether. Either way all winnings go to the tip box.

OK, that makes sense. Thank you.

Feel a bit silly at the table not knowing what's really going on.

I did roll 5 straight 7's to start my roll last night. If it was all about the money, well, I should have quit after the first 5 rolls.

Best advice I ever got was from a heavy craps player. He always said watch the table for at least forty minutes, pick the best player at the table and do everything he does. It works rather well. Pretty soon the dealer figures it out and just sticks his hand out and places them for me anymore.....lol.

I honestly don't know enough about the game to know if I'm making the "technically correct" bets or not. I have been corrected by the dealers about two dozen times for placing chips in the wrong spot or placing the wrong amount of chips in play.

All I know is it's a fun game when the table is hot and everyone is easy to get along with.

Especially when the board is rolling along too. Then everyone gets into it and has a great time. Yea that is the best casino game in my opinion.

I used to get corrected all the time too, now I just stand next to the guy and let him place them. lol.

6 ways to make a seven
5 ways to make a 6 or 8
4 ways to make a 5 or 9
3 ways to make a 4 or 10
2 ways to make a 3 or 11
1 way to make a 2 or 12

after a point has been established you are paid true odds behind the line meaning if you bet 10 dollars on the line and behind it and the point is 5 you get paid 1.5 for your bet behind the line and 10 for your line bet

If you bet points after a point has been established bet in increments of 6 if your betting 6 or 8 to get paid true odds like when you bet behind the line, betting 5 or 9 bet in increments of 5 to get paid your true odds and. 4 or 10 it doesn't matter it's 2-1

It's all about statistics and math I love it...wish I was at a casino right now :0074

Is that the thread where the guy thinks he can throw numbers?

Sorry, I'm skeptical.

Yea, I mean I doubt anyone with an unlimited amount of practice could control the dice if they only had to throw six inches.

No way you can control the dice across six feet.

Someone in that thread also suggested that after a four is thrown the Field bet hits 73% of the time because of the way the stick man pushes the dice to the shooter.

You can believe that all you want, but it's gonna be a long hard road for you. Long, hard road....
