What was McCain going to change? The problem is we got everything Mcain promised, everythinh we voted against.

We voted to stop the wars, eliminate the Bush Tax cuts for the top 5% or something, No more lobbiest, and Transparency.. It looks to me like Obama failed on all of those. He deserves to be thrown out in the street but we can't go back to the policies that got us and kept us here.

The point I was making is the statement is too broad. It was not and has not been defined ( in my mind)

I did not support the Bush economic policies.
I did not support TARP
I did not support the Stimulus plan

I support fiscal responsibility. Spending less than income. Reducing benefits (as needed) as well as increasing taxes. Removing corporate and personal tax loopholes. Ending subsidies. Ending lobbying.
Ending the war on drugs as well as the war on poverty - we have failed on both accounts.

Find me a candidate who will work on these and I will follow.

Governor Gary Johnson is one to watch

i can find a million candidates like this. Then the lobbyist get a hold of them and there lies the big problem. I always get a laugh at the guy who takes very little lobbying money. He is always labeled a radical and people buy this nonsense like the suckers they are.

So the simple answer to Dog's question is...

It's Bush's fault that we have Barry Soetoro as POTUS ?

Obama was doomed from the beginning. Stevie, i said it would take a super hero to get us out of this mess and a lot of things he wanted republicans stalled and that handful of Democrats where in the right place to fuk him over. I love these guys who are tired of hearing what a mess he got dealt. Shit i wouldn't want to be accused of a mess my vote createdl either. Like somehow he was supposed to turn it all around when u have the other party fighting like madmen for the rich. I mean they fought against banking regulations. What does this tell ya? They fight against these tax breaks for companies to move overseas. What does that tell ya? This despicable Republican party is so against the working people of this country yet they have some followers. I hope they get controll again so people can feel some real pain and then we can hear how Obama's policies created it. It really is incredible that people believe Fox News and nitwit neo-con radio. When u have people this naive it turns into a hopeless situation. Then u have another party playing weak enablers.

Spongy, I agree with you but I will not forgive Obama for trying to make peace with the Reepublicans right after we voted their asses to the street. I am very disappointed in him and the Democratic Party on the whole. I mean we got what we expected from the Republicans but who would of guessed that the Dems, when in control. would roll over. Sickening.

I agree. Obama did campaign on getting us out of Iraq within 16 months. He failed to deliver on that promise. On the other hand, Obama also campaigned to redeploy troops from Iraq to Afghanistan and even go after Al Qaeda cells in Pakistan. I think those of us who voted for him hoped he was just trying to avoid appearing soft on defense and didn't really intend to continue the big stick policies of the neocons. And the other candidate (McCain) was promising to "stay in Iraq for 100 years" if that's what it took to accomplish our objective (whatever the hell our objective was).

But Obama the President only faintly resembles Obama the candidate. In addition to continuing the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, Obama failed to fight for Single Payer Healthcare, he failed to fight for the Public Option, he upheld FISA, he failed to close Gitmo, he's failed to put the Gitmo detainees on trial, he and Geithner supported the Bush/Paulson Wall Street bailouts, he's failed to use the stimulus money to rebuild our infrastructure, the list goes on and on.

Unfortunately, Obama's missed a great opportunity to change the course of history. Depending on what happens over the next two years, he may get another shot, but that may only be because he's the lesser of two evils.

Another Classic Grift--Who said

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. ... Increasing America's debt weakens us domestically and internationally. Leadership means that 'the buck stops here.' Instead, Washington is shifting the burden of bad choices today onto the backs of our children and grandchildren. America has a debt problem."

He's a Hell of a disappointment. Better than McCain, but not what he could and should be. He could have listened to people like Paul Volker and even Bill Clinton, but went with the warhawks, lobbyists and Wall-streeters. Too damn bad.

In fact he COULD have done what he said he would do. He might have failed some of it, but he could have tried. Gitmo, single-payer, Patriot Act - he didn't even try.

He's the fucking PRESIDENT, fer chrissake!

I can't see voting for any of the republican's likely candidates.

We need a strong third party along the lines of the Progressive Party of 80 years ago. And a leader like TR.

Yeah me either. I knew this despicable party would never work for the country or Obama but somehow Obama didn't. But he did try for single payer but what can u do when u can't get the votes in ur own party? It really is a hopeless situation. As long as u have naive people who get scammed over and over again and don't know any better, this is what ya get. Only thing u could do is have two presidents. One for the gullible who vouch for Fox News and the rest of us have another guy. Then let these Fox News ball lickers cut their own throats while the rest of us can lead a peaceful life.

Over half the nation voted for change and what does he do? He wants to work with the party that caused this mess when in fact they didn't give a dick the Dems tried to work with Bush. The party that the nation voted out. Why do i think that we will see this same script down the road? Republicans getting in and just slamming all theses bad policies down our throat and then the Dems get back in and want to work with the Republicans. :mj02:

And Illy forget about Ron Paul. He is against spending and spent ten cents to win in 2008 when he had a big war chest. U can't win like that. I love Paul but how do u run a campaign like that?
