Wagerweb.com POSTS ODDS ON: ?WHO WILL BE THE NEXT HEAD COACH OF THE NEW YORK KNICKS??
(Zapote, Costa Rica, 18 July 2005) Now that Larry Brown has parted ways with the Pistons, It is only a matter of time before the Knicks try to sign him as their head coach. The situation couldn?t be any better for New York: not only do they have a future Hall of Fame coach that has suddenly become available, but they don?t have to give up anything for him or deal with any of the headaches that Brown caused the Pistons at the end of last season. Brown also happens to be great friends with Knicks president Isaiah Thomas and will actually be hosting a charity event with him next week in Long Island, NY.
This is not a done deal by any means, but signs are pointing to the coaching nomad in Brown to land back at ?home? with the Knicks. With the Knickerbockers? young upside, Brown could be just what the doctor ordered to turn the fledgling franchise around. If Brown does not end up coaching in New York, there are several other possibilities. One, though, is not former Piston Bad Boy and current Detroit Shock of the WNBA coach Bill Lambier, who took his name out of the running last week. Possibilities being talked about in New York are Flip Saunders, Stan Van Gundy (if he leaves Miami), Herb Williams, and Isaiah Thomas himself, who had previously coached the Indiana Pacers.
"Of course Pistons fans everywhere are not happy about Larry Brown leaving Motown," said Wagerweb.com CEO Dave Johnson. "But Knicks fans suddenly are rejuvenated and are hoping they can now land the well traveled coach.?
