My choice in this shortened season will be the St. Louis Blues +1600. They have 2 rock solid goalies and are playoff seasoned. David Backes is a young tough leader who can get them there. The Rangers, Pens, Canes are gonna be tough in the East. The Wild are my longshot pick.

My hunch is Boston, Rangers, Philly, Couver will be odds on favs to be in contention for the Stanley, a dark horse could be the Hurricanes with all the off-season acquisitions they brought in, Staal's brother, have a young front line and Skinner can do some things also Cam Ward back, they were one of the better ATS teams last year and if they don't win, they can finally get rid of Rutherford who I can't stand one bit.

NHL needs more than just the new agreement they just conjoured up, they need realignment and allow for naked chicks to run on the ice at intermission and shoot pucks!! But seriously, something needs to be done to coordinate the conferences and keep travel simpler and keep some of the rivalry games going and make some new ones.

Southern teams seriously don't do well attendance wise or viewership wise, the folks that do watch games down south, besides me, are those that grew up watching nutsack on TV when the Canadiens had Dryden at Goalie, Bruins had Espo & Orr, Blackhawks had Espo's brother, Broad Street Bullies were allowed to be bullies, etc. or the people in the southern states that do have an NHL team are north bird transplants from New England or the great white NORSE, the game now is a bunch of crap in some of these towns and one wouldah thunk the NHL could have gotten some business minded former NHL player to get a national contract with Fox or some tv affiliate, but NOOOOOO!!! Still stuck watching regional stuff on Fox or Vs which is now NBCSN. Something has to give!!

Just hope my season tickets include a front row seat at the Flyers games at the PNC!

Will the Bruins benefit from the shortened season?

: The Boston Bruins will benefit from the shortened schedule for a few reasons, but mainly because there?s been little turnover on their roster since the team won the Stanley Cup in 2011. Even before the NHL?s lockout this season, the Bruins were favored as one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference because the core is young, healthy and has already known success. That?s also one of the main reasons why general manager Peter Chiarelli hasn?t made any changes because he realizes the potential this club has. Unlike many other teams in the NHL, the Bruins don?t have to worry about learning new coaches, teammates or systems because everything is already in place in Boston. The only real change for the Bruins is that Tuukka Rask will be the No. 1 goalie. The lines should all be largely the same and so should the defensive unit. Coach Claude Julien?s job shouldn?t be that much of a challenge at the start of the shortened season. The one aspect the Bruins need to be aware of is consistency. There?s no time for lulls because of the small number of games they?ll play in a short period of time. There shouldn?t be any excuses for the Bruins this season and they should be one of the top teams in the conference.

: The biggest danger to a shortened season or really any season for that matter is a slow start. Obviously with only 48 games and playing only teams within your own conference, every point is magnified. So recovering from a slow start is going to be much harder. But as Cam Neely pointed out to ESPN Boston recently, the Bruins have basically the same team (players and coaches) coming back, which should help. Neely also made the point that the Bruins went through a slow start last season coming of their Stanley Cup championship, so they know from experience how important it is to start strong. One thing that should help is that so many (13) Bruins played overseas during the lockout. Yes, the level of hockey they were playing certainly isn?t as high as the NHL, but playing is always going to get you in better game shape than simply training. Sprinkle in the bitter taste from last season's first round exit to the Capitals -- and even though it was nine months ago it still stings -- and the Bruins should have plenty of motivation right out of the gate. This team knows they're better than what they showed in that loss to the Capitals and they?ll want to prove that. Based on all those elements, I see the Bruins coming out strong out of the gate and expect big things from them this season.

Wildbill do u really have season tickets? Was thinking this is a good year to get 2 other guys and grab seasons...8 games each and think I saw Bruins coming in twice...If you need to get rid of any and I don't get them let me know...want to bring my son to his first pro game and need seats close to the ice so he gets hooked at an early age. Last year guy I know has seasons and we sat in front row behind the Canes bench and never saw so many sticks...Can't wait for the season

Hey Jinx, yeah I gotz some season tickets, got a bargain on them, 1/2 my money back and a discount for them starting so late. Typically I only go when the Flyers play or Sabres, I give the other tickets to my employees or in-laws, LOL!! I usually sit on the 3rd tier, where the Amstel beer tap is located, just left of center Ice - beneath the suites.

We pool our money together, but someone is always going, 2 seats is all I got....
