Why all the anger?

I stop in time to time and have even replied a few times, but when I read some of the messages here I have to wonder why you get so upset. Not that my views matter but I lean right yet have liberal views as well, probably more of a libertarian than anything. My point is I dont agree with what some of you think but why get bent all out of shape when it does not matter. Everyone should think for themselves and become educated in world affairs but if you think politicians give two shits about the things you do you are nuts. With unlimited terms the only thing congress (dems and reps) cares about is being relected. They (including presidents) say anything to get elected and then do as they please without being called out by their own party. Instead their own party defends them because they cant let the other party get the best of them. Politicians love the likes of hannity and olberman that polarize people and keep them arguing among themselves and keeps their own party off their back. Until accountability is brought to congress nothing will change. Perfect example is no child left behind. Teachers have acountability and can be fired based on performane evaluations, it is good enough for teachers but not for congress:shrug: Oh well back to my hole good luck changing each others minds.

I can only speak for myself, if you care about politics and the state of our country and our place in the world, it has to be frustrating and there is a helpless feeling. This place is therapeutic, a place to get it all out. I don't think most of are as angry as we sound. Weasel, my green cards are limited by the fact that I like to give red cards. I've learned that when you give someone a red card, they often give one back to you. Go figure. They don't understand that the true nature of the red was to 'encourage' them in a slightly critical way. Tough love.

There are too many green cards awarded and not enough red. Eventually, everyone will have 10 green cards and the whole thing will look stupid. ...or at least stupider.

I'm making a list of next round of reds, and Dad is actually on there.

I don't think it is so much anger as it is passion. Some of us have very strong feelings running on both sides. I think, with the exception of a few, we have for the most part kept it pretty clean and friendships have been made.

I think there is more a feeling of bitterness and self loathing amongst many here. Lack of personal success creates it. Not as much anger IMO. If people were happier with their own lives and the decisions they've made, it would translate in what they write.

I think this sums up my feelings pretty well. I am pretty passionate about the seperation of Church and State for the good of this country. I am also passionate about making the world a better place. My belief is that religion has run its course and now hinders that goal.

When I reply to Buddy (for example) with anti-religious statements, it is not out of anger, but passion for change. I think Buddy is a great guy and deserves our respect, but I think everyone deserves to hear from the other side as well.

There is only one person I have a difficult time with, and it is because his methods are absolutely ludicrous....and people let him get away with it way too often.

Not to quibble with a generally good post, but holding up The No Child Left Behind Program as a model of success to be emulated is not exactly what I would strive for. Unfunded mandates that cost local/state taxpayers extra money to pay for it - often resulting in teachers getting fired and programs being eliminated when they don't want to pay. Now maybe if we decided we don't want to pay for our elected leaders, then maybe you have a good analogy...:SIB

what really pains me is when my sick sense of humor is mistaken as hard core mean-spiritedness(is that a word?)......which is almost never the intention.....

with one exception....that i don`t think needs clarification....

i do feel much love for this forum...and those that foul it.......(ba dum bum):SIB .....

when i`m totally out of line,i always try and apologize...as do others...and in serious matters,i like to think i`d have the backs of my fellow forum members(not your average silly forum shinkick,but in more serious matters...i.e.hitting a guy when he`s down,etc)....

i kid spongy terribly...but he`s a fave of mine...he zaps me quite often.....he handles the jokes and stuff like a man....i respect him....i`m sure he knows it`s all in fun...and he can take it....



occasionally,you have to correct some mistakes...like when chadman thought that fort knox was in knoxville...

but we do it gently...constructively...

I was not endorsing NCLB, as a matter of fact I think it is awful (for various reasons this thread isn't about). The point was that your great congressmen see fit to implement these things on educators but would never do such a thing to themselves and have to be held accountable for failures. Apparently the only vote they can agree on is a pay raise for themselves year in and year out. Just seems to me that we point the finger at the other party so much we lose sight of the fact that they all suck.

Essentially agree with your point here, now, UGA. Except I honestly do not think that ALL congresspeople suck. I do think some have some standards, at least initially. The problem is - and will be until further notice - the money it takes to get them in place, and what they have to do to stay there.
