Why close that thread.
I didn?t see anything wrong about it.

Is this place only to post winners and if we go a little out of the process of selecting winners we get the thread shut down?

I feel its good to know the reasons why someone has decided to stop posting, specially when it?s a regular. If we don?t ask our self those questions we keep the door open to loosing more players by repeating the same mistakes. By no means i would want to suggest that Sam wont post, i dont know a thing about this case and thats what we were triing to do.

We are working as a team and the only way to do this is to communicate; by doing so new members will know the informal rules and we will all get reminded of the thru spirit that runs this places.

Personally I don?t like to get shut down when I have something to say, as long as I make sense and that I am polite.

Frogy, what Horns said in his post would only escalate things..
As far as i can remember and read in an earlier post, nothing was said personally about Sam..He is a good capper, and i hope to
see him back soon...maybe there is other reasons,or maybe
he is taking a break.

Everyone will be better off in the long run if they worry about their own handicapping rather than where another handicapper ran off to. Even though I disagree with Horns' statement that Sam is the best NHL handicapper on the site, I do think he is a great NHL handicapper and I don't take offense to his potshot if it was directed at me.

If you really want to profit off what Sam has done then take a look at the games he plays and play that same style. Sam plays chalk, usually between -125 and -175 and usually giving the half puck unless the moneyline is about -150 or less. He plays mismatches where either one team is simply the far better team or they are playing much better than the opposition. More often than not he plays the home team. He also always plays very few games, usually one or two per day.

Take a look at some of these lines:

Vancouver -150
Nashville -1/2 -155
Philadelphia -1/2 -145

I generally stink at betting chalk but if you guys really want to learn from what Sam posted then looking at Vancouver playing the unrested Bruins or Nashville playing a struggling Florida squad or Philly coming home playing hot is the way to go.

I emailed Sam yesterday and I still have no reply. He usually replies right away. I am thinking:

1. He is on a holiday and left without mentioning anything
2. He is really pissed and has left the forum

Other than that, I really don't know

I think if Sam wanted you to post his reply as to why he is no longer posting he would have done it himself. The man's privacy sould be respected here, IMHO.

Nick - I never mentioned your name, it was that several people seemed to be on a guy who I and most on this site consider to be the most consistent capper on this site. Sure there are some guys on this site that only post periodically that are very solid but as for someone who posts everyday like Sam I think he is way ahead of most of us.

I follow your plays Nick and never intended to start anything, I was stating what was said in a thread earlier this month by fdc. I am not saying fdc said anything wrong just that somethings were said in a thread of his about Sam.

So lets get back to picking winners rather than grumble for no reason.

Gentlemen

Gentlemen

I dont think I have ever posted a hockey pick, chances are never will, i am still trying to understand the game, that being said i do enjoy reading the posts, geez, spend a whole hell of a lot of time on this sight, guys get real though, its about beating the man, getting your feelings hurt and walking away, is like saying its my ball and i'm going home, i've got 4 kids and i hear this stuff all the time. This is about making money, if your feelings get hurt then guys suck it up, we need all of you, whether you post reasons for your picks, units for your picks and don't give a rats ass, this was and should still be a place where you hard working handicappers post your picks and let people like me look, and learn. Sorry to vent but you guys have been the people on Jacks that have acted the most mature and have acted more as a team, and I really do appreciate your work.

Good luck to all

note to all

I NEVER mentioned Sam in any of my posts in a derogatory manner. I repeat never. If Sam or anyone else thinks that I did then they have my heartfelt apologies and it was certainly unintentional but I guarantee it didn't happen
