I am wondering the same thing. When did UCLA get so good. They lost to the good teams they played in non conference and then they beat up on a sh*tty Pac 10. I think they will be lucky to get to the sweet 16.

If they meet, Memphis won't be favored by More than Two. I expect UCLA to be Favored (or Pick) when they do meet.

:SIB

... If I'm getting any points with UCLA in that Match-Up it will be a HUGE Play for me..

Memphis won't make it past the first weekend and Alabama is capable of beating UCLA. Pathetic 10 was not a good conference and C-USA was beyond pathetic. Kansas should be the favorite to win this region if they can get by Pitt. This would be the best 2nd round matchup in the whole tournament.

With all things remaining the same, Memphis will be a 4 point favorite versus UCLA. Despite what people say about the PAC 10, the competition is much stronger than in CUSA. It seems that UCLA is really playing some inspired ball as they are peaking at the right time. Tough defense and good offense.

Also, with this potential game being played on the West Coast this is a decisive advantage for UCLA at least from my perspective.

I think this would be a great match up. However, both teams have their vulnerabilities and I doubt it will come to fruition.

If anything I would really like to see, Howland against his old team in the elite 8.

You dont think Memphis will beat Oral Roberts and the winner of Arkansas and Bucknell????

Memphis beat Alabama handily in Alabama and that was with their leading scorer Chick Davis still healthy.....

I was thinking the same thing...............2 weeks ago UCLA was like 65-1 to win the tourney..........

They win at Cal in a game they were down by 11 at half.........then beat a terrible Stanford team that lost like 9 out of their last 10 games.........then the conference tourney they beat a pathetic Oregon State team then beat Arizona without their best player then in the championship game they beat a Cal team that went into overtime less that 15 hrs earlier......

They lost to USC when USC didnt even have their best player playing and also lost at Washington in their 2 toughest road games before Cal.....

And now they are a number #2 seed????

Maybe I am blind but they have to show me thay can beat someone good on the road besides California before I think they are a final four team.......

Indiana will give Ucla problems if they make it that far. Killingsworth will dominate Batista of Gonzaga

No one is giving my Memphis Tigers any respect whatsoever.... Maybe after we beat Pitt or Kansas.... On second thought, nope...then everyone will just say, well, they will surely get beat by UCLA (even though we've already beaten UCLA once this year.)

Oh well, maybe after we reach the Final Four, we'll get a little respect.... You guys that have Memphis going out in the 1st or 2nd rounds better have a good grasp on the other brackets, because Memphis will definitely make the elite 8. :scared

Arkansas can match up with memphis well. I think the winner of that game will be primed for a nice run.

best thread i have read in awhile,
Im from the west coast and all i hear about now is UCLA being championship team and how farmar and afalo are the best backcourt in the nation!!!!
I dont know where i was the rest of the season because i dont know where those predictions came from!
UCLA is a good team but I already had a big post about ucla losing to memphis and my main reason is that ucla gaurds dont do what their name implies (gaurd) farmar is weak on d and memphis is so quick at every position they will just outscore ucla

Farmar is weakER on "D", but not weak. :nono: UCLA has one of the best "D's" in the tourney. However, they will lose to any team that can play a good matchup zone and use inside men to their advantage. UCLA cannot score enough points to run with the "big dogs".

blgstocks,

You nailed it! The Bruins are a good team, but they would have no shot of beating Memphis because Farmar and Afalo would not matchup well with the Tigers' guards. I don't know if there is a team in the country that can matchup with Memphis' backcourt.
