They have yet to play a "tough" game
ASU proved there mettle
Oregon .. please.. dont say its tough to play there.. I would go there before Death Valley, any Sec sight (save Kentucky) any ACC sight (save Duke) the big house, the horseshoe.. etc
Heck Stanford lost to Cal Davis
AND beat Washington State!!!!
Texas had the balls to go to OSU they should be #1
What has USC done but sleepwalk through these games rather unimpressively
The Pac ten stinks.. they play NO DEFENSE (cal ucla was a great display of tackling skills)
I'll name 5 teams
Texas
Georgia
FSU
Virginia Tech
Miami
Alabama
(OK thats 6)
That I KNOW would beat $C
Others would give em a better game

Do the right thing and make Texas #1
at least they have played someone.....

in college football to be #1, you have to beat the #1 team.

sc is definitely cruising without much effort but no one can stop that offense. i believe i saw a stat where they avg. 700+ yards on offense per game.

hope we see your 6 teams vs. sc in rosebowl.

vtech got run on by marshall saturday, bush and white would run wild if hokies play like that again...

3 years ago........

*Iowa was one of the hottest teams in the country and was supposed to dominate USC in the BCS bowl game. Pac 10 stinks, USC has free ride, USC couldn't run the table in a "real" conf. They play nobody. USC is not physical, they play in weak Pac 10. USC D sucks.

2 years ago........

*Michigan was one of the hottest teams in the country and was supposed to dominate USC in the BCS bowl game. Pac 10 stinks, USC has free ride, USC couldn't run the table in a "real" conf. They play nobody. USC is not physical, they play in weak Pac 10. USC D sucks.

Last year........

*Oklahoma was one of the hottest teams in the country and was supposed to dominate USC in the BCS bowl game. Pac 10 stinks, USC has free ride, USC couldn't run the table in a "real" conf. They play nobody. USC is not physical, they play in weak Pac 10. USC D sucks.

BCS teams USC has beaten in OOC or BCS bowl games the last 3 years.

Oklahoma
Michigan
Iowa
@ Virginia Tech (65k+ hokies vs 15k trojans)
Auburn twice (@Auburn 1 game)
ND 3 times (@ND 1 time)
@Colorado
Arkansas

Who has accomplished more? The funny thing is, USC struggles MORE in conf. play vs OOC play and/or BCS bowl games.

Why do you put down the Pac 10? What is your argument? I bet you have none!

BTW, USC just needs to win each week. They earned their #1 ranking. They don't need to impress you or anybody else. They get their opponents "A" game every week. There is a reason NOBODY has won 3 straight National Championships. Why don't you sit back and appreciate what USC has accomplished the last 3 years and see if they make history.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Ladies and gentleman, looks like we might get USC under 3pts or maybe even a DOG in their BCS bowl game. The same talks are happening again. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

Hokie fan, get ready because you guys are first in line to be this year's Auburn. I have watched all three teams play (USC, Texas, VT), and all 3 programs are in a league by themselves if you ask me. All three teams look very impressive, but USC plays in their own world out in the Pac-10. But rest assured, if all 3 teams go undefeated, pull up a seat, because you guys will be watching the Rose Bowl from home. Another sad case of 3 deserving teams, and only 2 will get to play for it.

I do not think that USC has shown that they are the #1 team in the country this year, and I also belive that Texas and Va Tech have shown me more more (Texas being the deal.) However, they will remain #1 until they get beat. It is just part of being the defending national champs.

I also think that if USC was in the SEC, that they would be favored, and probaly would win the conference. However, I do not think that they would go undefeated. If they were in the East, and had Florida, Georgia, and Tenn, and then say that 2 of their three games for teams in the west were either lsu, bama, or Auburn. I would be willing to bet that they would get upset in one of those games.

playing ohio and marshall as your ooc games is really a great argument for va tech to be in the title game. maybe if they ever played anyone out of conference they could cry if they don't make it to the "big game". they'll have their one loss by the end of the year so there won't be any problems. i hate usc but they've had an amazing run for 3 years. every team they've had in front of them they have embarrassed period. if they go undefeated you can't argue they don't deserve to be there.

Go ahead and start bashing VT's ooc schedule if it makes you feel like one of these teams doesn't deserve to play for national title if they go undefeated. All three teams look awesome and I don't see any valid argument out there to validate 2 of these teams, and leave the third one out.

USC should be #1 because they are the best team in college football until proven otherwise. Yes, previous years results are relevant (and are not necessary to validate the Trojans as the current #1).

But Scott, stop trying to portray USC as the underdogs in their previous bowl games. Iowa and Michigan were supposed to "dominate" them? According to who?

No one knows this better than an Auburn fan, that's for sure. If either Georgia, VT, or Bama (or even Penn St.) run the table, they will get screwed if Texas and USC are also undefeated. Maybe if it happens two years in a row something will finally be done. I am not in favor of a large playoff, but I think you need at least 4 slots to prevent great undefeated seasons (like Auburn last year) to be discarded. I don't think we have ever seen a 5th ranked undefeated squad (from a major conference) at the end of the year so if that happened, so a one-loss #5 would only have themselves to blame for their situation.

I was on them last year but that fantasy is not happening again. They will be 5 or greater against anyone, likely DD.

Hokies have played Ohio U, Coach K and Marshall Brady ... Texas has played Lafayette and Uncle Ben ... USC has gone to the Calcutta's Blackhole of Cheaters Leis, been down big on road in b2b snake pits and covered 2 of those 3 with brutal running game ... they host fresno, @ Cal and ND, and finish with Bruins ... to say their schedule is bad doesnt make much sense to me ... BTW, if people think they suck, sportsbook.com was offering texas +10.5 LW ...

they cover like a six block wide amoeba, and plaster everyone in Bowl games, to denigrate their greatness is absurd ...

do I love usc: NO; do i respect them: YES

I never said USC wasn't good or great. All I said was that I have been impressed with all 3 teams thus far, and that if all 3 teams go undefeated, we will have a repeat of last year with everyone starting to attack everyone else's schedule to try and prove their point about who they think should get to play in the Rose Bowl.

And the bottom line is, no matter who USC, Oklahoma, or Auburn played OOC or in-conference last year, all 3 teams deserved a shot at the title last year. And if all top 3 teams go undefeated this year, one of them will get left out, and that is a shame to me. And attacking schedules and final scores does not validate anyone's argument over someone else's.

I am not talking about vegas line but rather peoples opinions. Take MADJACKSPORTS for example. Before USC played Iowa, Michigan, and OU in their 3 BCS games, USC was slammed by majority of the posters here. All saying the same things 3 straight years. I wrote what posters generally said. NOT everyone said these things, but majority did and they know who they are!

USC was -6 over Iowa
USC was -7 over Michigan
USC was -2 over OU

Obviously USC was WAY undervalued. Prob. because of these opinions against USC and the Pac 10. I am hoping we hear the same BULL$HIT 4 years in a row and capitalize on USC! :)

I agree it sucks and there should be a playoff. But how do you differentiate between 3 undefeated teams who all are from different conferences? Therefore, you must bring up who they played! Also WHERE they played.

USC has a MUCH tougher schedule than either V-Tech or Texas. No doubt about it! If TN went undefeated, you could make a strong argument they should be ranked #2 because of their schedule. Don't forget, schedule means EVERY game on the schedule! ALL YOUR OPPONENTS!

HEYYYYYYYYYYY! When did you do the update on the sig? :mj07:

ND 42 USC 28??????

You got it wrong. The last time a Pete Carroll defense gave up over 30pts was against CAL 2 years ago and that went into triple OT. ND holding USC under 30pts? A "MOTIVATED" USC team? :scared

USC wins 47-27! The ND game is where USC players win Heisman Trophies! :mj07: You know that!

Are you going to the game? I got my tix. I think our seats are on the 20 yard line but my Dad had to pay $500 each. We fly to Chicago on Thur. I can't wait. My first SOUTH BEND game and what a year to go!!!

I generally dont have a problem with USC being Number 1, but what happened last year or any other year should have nothing to do with the ratings. I dont think there is any question that Texas has the best win. Texas will beat a Top 10 Texas Tech and probably will be the only team to beat two (at the time) Top 10s, although Alabama, Fla St and Georgia will all probably have a shot to do it. I have ZERO doubt that ALL of the unbeatens at issue would win in Tempe and Eugene. Those are very nice wins, but not anything compared to Texas at Ohio State.

On talent and who would beat who USC is Number 1. On what has actually happened this year they are probably #2. I wouldnt even have Va Tech at 3 - how would they honestly be ahead of Georgia, Bama or Penn State?

Scott, again, we just don't see eye to eye on this one. USC has a tougher schedule is simply your opinion. UT fans think they have the toughest schedule, and VT fans feel they play a tougher schedule than the other two. And the wheel keeps spinning around and around until there is a playoff system.
