Bush is going because it's the right thing for our President to do.

I'm sorry that the rest of the country is not quite so gritty and cynical as you, BryanZ.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it almost seems as if you are *shocked* that Bush is going to Blacksburg. ....Well, maybe not shocked, but at least stunned.

I'm not shocked that he is going. It doesn't effect my opinion of him either way. For this president or any politician do something because it's the right thing, is hard for me to believe. I just don't see the point. What can he do ? What can he change ? Nothing on both counts, Why not save up his energy for an event that he can effect change ? What do we have . The gun guys will come out, the anti gun people will come out, they will look at and question the security on the VT campus. ALL FOR NAUGHT. All I'm saying is get ready for the next one. I don't like it, but I don't see anything else we can do. I'm not cynical, I'm sad about this. Given our present leadership in this country and our leadership over the last 25 yrs, what else am I supposed to think realistically ? This is something that is apart of us,and with the gun technology being what it is and what it will be, we have not seen anything yet. This was one guy, just think about a well trained group of 5, 10 or 15, for what ever reason. How many guns and police do we need to stop the next one ? There is no answer to that.

TOKYO (Reuters) -

Hey GW, F@ck it, throw out everything I have said about Gun Control. Lets arm everyone. But I mean everyone.

hey,my man...i`m down with a little ill-executed sarcasm......:grins:

what i`m not down with is this marxist nanny state you seem to want to embrace...

read mark steyn`s book,"america alone"....

he said that on 9-11 the state failed.. airport security failed, police & intelligence agencies failed, fcc regulations failed, the media failed, the huge airline corporations failed....

the only success americans had on that miserable morning was the informal group of free citizens on united 93 who decided to ignore airline regulations, and acted when they rushed the cockpit where the terrorists were....

that`s kinda where i`m at...

Can't see the big deal here. I have no problem with him going. Its the other politicians running for presidency i would have a problem with. Maybe Bush can talk about letting that gun ban law expire a couple of years back which would have made that clip that nut use illegal.

There are many people in NYC that do not share this opinion. Bush's appearance and speech at ground zero was very important.

While some people feel the same as you, I'm sure there are many in Blacksburg that feel the President's visit is very beneficial. ...As I'm sure the people of New Orleans WOULD have felt if he showed the type of commitment and compassion that he should have at that time.

I do not like this President, not by a long shot. But I don't question his motive for a visit like this because I know it's a tremendous boost to people in mourning.

Good lord, Buddy! I really don't think God/Jesus/Budha/Vishnu minds. I f I go to Hell because I've "taken the lord's name in vain" without feeling bad about it, then I'm frankly not interested in that kind of Heaven.

Christ's sakes, man.

if you would have gone to religious school when you were younger, like i pleaded with you to do....you would never take the lord's name in vain & understand where buddy is coming from....but you wouldn't listen to me & instead you hung out with the local riffraff....

I really don't feel like getting into this, pops. I'll just ask you one thing that you can discuss with Buddy:

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour?

DTB, please cite your source for that list. Iraq is obviously killing at higher rate than most on that list.

I know there maybe an argument that , there has been shootings in Mexican schools, yet it just get televised.

Bingo, maybe that is why it doesn't happen with such frequency. Because nut jobs that are unstable get there ideas from the news.

I will wager that someone is at home right now giving serious thought to doing something on a grander scale than what happened at VT.

BTW, i can personally recall at least two schools being shot up just here in San Diego.
