Why kick the field goal there?

I don't claim to be a coach and obviously these guys are "supposed" to know what they are doing, but why attempt a 48 yard field goal in that spot? The stadium is the most brutal kicking stadium for field goals by far. I don't care how good the Indy place kicker is. Not only that, the defense hasn't been able to do shit so far against Pittsburgh. Chipping away with 3 points isn't going to cut it. They had a better chance of making 2 yards in that spot. Then again, Tony Dungy is a conservative idiot and can basically taint any decent offense.

A little sour grapes because I'm on Indy tonight, but I don't understand these coaches sometimes.
