the obama administration(if it god forbid faced with this situation) could have simply chosen to not retaliate with a nuclear strike as is its right and judgment as commander in chief. ....

instead, he's made it a public acknowledgment and telegraphed a policy change that our nation's enemies may use against us.....

we`re talking a potential chemical or biological attack that could kill thousands.....and we couldn`t respond in kind because our leaders are busy dismantling our chemical and biological arsenal...

why woudn`t the administrations policy be "we will use whatever methods that we deem necessary in any given situation" and leave it at that?....

it`s not about the actual "use" of nuclear weapons...it`s about the sword of damocles hanging over the head of anyone even considering an attack on the u.s....it`s about deterrent...and it`s worked beautifully for over 60 years...

if we`d had this policy in effect previously,given russia`s prior advantage in tanks and conventional forces,the landscape of europe and the world might look very different today...



this is their defense strategy...reduce,stop upgrqading and eventually dismantle our nuclear umbrella....while "hoping"(theres that word again)that the russians.chinese,n.koreans,iranians or whomever see our noble gesture and follow suit....

Simple and to the point djv. :clap: It is hard to imagine the extreme statements about Obama in this thread when our nuclear intentions have been public knowlege since 1952. If Obama is a "communiist running a dictatorship", he will have to stand in line behind every other president. The most adamant about this was President Reagan, with a book written exclusively about ridding the world of nuclear weapons. Reagan was no communist dictator, neither is Obama. Those types of statements about President Obama are just plain wrong. That type of rhetoric has no benefit for our country and ultimately makes our country less safe. YOU are supporting/promoting terrorist action.

Currently, our biggest nuclear threat is protecting present inventories from being stolen or traded on the black market. There are thousands of "suitcase" nuclear bombs in the world. As for our biggest threats, they are the shoe bombs etc. that can go off anywhere at anytime.

What is being said in these threads: worry about our nuclear intentions? Please! You are the same people that would threaten violence if the President decided to eliminate income taxes for everyone. Obama will do no right, no matter what he does. I have never met anyone who is incapable of doing the right thing some of the time.
