When the Lakers faced the sixers a few yrs back Jackson put Kobe on Iverson and that was the end of series..............why isnt Jackson putting Kobe on Parker..........I can almost guarantee Parker would'nt have a 25 point avg after 2 game. Phil Jackson is a stubborn sob.....................Double team Duncan, put Kobe on Parker and let Ginobli, Bowen and company beat you...........

I disagree, putting KOBE on Parker will wear down Kobe and will hurt his offensive game. It was TYRONE LUE who defended Iverson and did a very good job in doing it. Unfortunately Lakers did not re-sign Lue and let him go. BAD MOVE!

I will tell you what the problem is. It is not really Parker and Duncan. (although both are playing great) This series is being dominated by the SPURS ROLE PLAYERS.

3 highest scores for role players on each team.

GAME 1
SPURS
Nesterovic, 5-11 10pts
Brown 3-4 8pts
Ginoble 4-10 10pts
TOTAL: 12-25 48% 28pts

LAKERS
Malone 3-10 10pts
George 2-2 8pts
Fisher 2-7 4pts
TOTAL: 7-19 36% 22pts

GAME 2
SPURS
R. Nesterovic 4-7 9pts
H. Turkoglu 4-8 9pts
Ginobili 6-8 15pts
TOTAL: 14-23 60% 33pts

LAKERS
Malone 5-8 13pts
Fisher 4-7 9pts
Payton 3-10 7pts
TOTAL: 12-25 48% 29pts

BOTH GAMES
SPURS TOTAL: 26-48 54% 61pts
LAKERS TOTAL: 19-44 43% 51pts

DIFFERENCE OF 10pts and Lakers lost both games by 10pts. If we dig deeper and look at more role players, the Spurs have an even more production disparity.

It amazes me how the role players for the Lakers can miss so many WIDE OPEN shots and they do it on a consistent basis. SIMPLY AMAZING!

I don't remember Jordan's offensive game suffering when he took the challenge upon himself to shut down explosive offensive players. The elite players, the true SUPERSTARS in this league today should take after Jordan. Only Artest and Bowen truly take pride in D the way Jordan did.

KOBE IS NOT A PG AND IS NOT AS FAST AS PARKER. JORDAN also had better role players surrounding him who made tough shots as well as open shots. Lakers role players cannot even make WIDE OPEN SHOTS. :D In addition, none of them can create their own shots.

Kobe 6.7 220
Parker 6.2 177 (fastest player in league)

HUGE DIFFERENCE, would you send Parker to defend Kobe???? :nono:

Kobe is a great defender and takes great pride in his defense. I believe Kobe has made 1st team defense.

Scott.........Kobe could guard Parker in his sleep and he wouldnt have a 25ppg avg............Parker may be a little quicker but he would have a helleva time getting his shot off and he sure as hell wouldnt be driving past Kobe like he has against Payton and Fisher.............And I remember the Philly seires well.......Philly won the first game in La then the lakers won 4 straight and Kobe guarded Iverson a lot after that first game. Lue guarded him some also but Kobe was on him a lot.

MY POINT IS....... IF YOU ARE GOING TO GO DOWN GO DOWN WITH YOUR BEST PLAYERS ON THEIR BEST PLAYERS...........NOT LETTING A GUY LIKE PARKER SCHOOL GUYS LIKE PAYTON AND FISHER. PAYTON LOOKS LIKE HE COULD'NT GUARD A WOMEN RIGHT NOW.
HOW ABOUT SOMEONE ON THE LAKERS KNOCKING PARKER ON HIS ASS WHEN HE DRIVES IN THE PAINT. BARKLEY SAID THIS AT HALFTIME AND I AGREE.......

Putting Kobe on Parker as mentioned would definitely hurt Kobe on the offensive end. Defensively he has to guard Parker and on Offense he has Bowen up his a$$. Way too much work for Kobe.

Too bad the Glove is past his prime our else he really could have slowed down Parker. Plus the commentators stated Payton was upset that Jackson would not let him guard Parker the way he wants too.

All in all as miserable as the Lakers have played if this team could learn patience in the 4th and actually score in the 4th this would have been a split series going into LA instead the Spurs are up 2-0. Phil Jackson, as great as he has been in the playoffs, seems to let the game slip away. In those droughts in the 4th he should have called timeouts to gather his players instead he let them play on.

The Lakers are not playing the Rockets so they can ill afford these offensive droughts in the 4th. But I see some signs of hope with this team. It is tough to win 4 out of 6 games from the Spurs, so I don't see them taking the series, but I believe the Lakers will make a competitive series out of this and by Tuesday night this will be a whole new series at 2-2.

Personally, I think the Lakers will have a bitch of a time coming back in this series. I think they got a shot, but Phil Jackson better come to his senses. If he really cares about winning this series there is only one solution. Bench Gary Payton for the remainder of the series. His attitude sux. He can't make a shot. He does NOT give maximum effort. He argues with refs, players, and coaches all game. Sorry glove, you are done. You are a cancer to your teammates, the league, and the city of LA.
Lakers won't go down without a fight. I think they can get back in this series and make it close. If the NBA execs don't intervene though and the game is played on an even level if you know what I mean, I think they are done.

Get rid of payton. Just my thoughts.

First of all it was Lue who shut down Iverson. I couldn't understand why they didn't have him on Iverson all the time. He was the only player on the Laker team quick enough and when he was on Iverson it was a different game. If I remember last night Kobe was put on Parker in the forth and held Parker to 4 or 5 points. But then Parker just took him inside and kicked the ball to the open man. The player that's hurting LA is Horry. The things he is doing this year don't show up in the stats but he makes a difference when he's in the game. LA knows they have to guard him because he can kill them from the arc if left open. Also they are really missing his shooting from outside. Last night he had 5 fouls but they were all smart fouls that helped the team. The big trouble LA has is, too many stars and not enough role players. Malone seems happy to work with Shak and Kobe but Payton has to change what he has been doing all his life to make it work and he doesn't seem to be willing to do that. I thought that in the Hou series LA was a much better offensive team with Payton on the bench. Is Jackson willing to do that to win this series? I don't know. Here's the problem. Payton has played 76 min, Fisher 46, has shot 4-18 (about 22%) while Fisher has shot 6-14 (42%). Here's what irritates me. Assists. This is where your point guard is supposed to shine. Payton has a total of 5 assists while Fisher has 4. That's 9 assists from the point guard position in two games. Parker has 14 by himself while scoring 50 points. Payton needs to forget about scoring and concentrat on getting the ball to Shak, Kobe and Malone at the time and place that they can make easier shots. I don't think Payton will be willing to do that. I'd start Fisher and bring Payton in for no more than 20 to 22 min. That way LA might still have a shot at this series. That's the way I've seen it so far.

I think Gary is the only one in the Lakers roster who can give a fair fight against Parker, the other way is to just put attention on him and Duncan, but you know San Antonio is better then just Duncan and Parker. You can see Bowen hitting the treys and defending but just that, Turkoglu is not playing good, Horry is winning the mental fight just that he is not playing better, D. Brown and Hart are just two soldiers without a real dangerous thing but if you leave them open they should hit the shot because they are pro's, Nesterovic is doing his thing, and the one to have concerned is Ginobili, he can be first team in any of the NBA, he plays defense, scores, hit all type of shoots, he goes to the rim without fear and he is a very big X factor, when SA sits Parker and puts to play Ginobili, the teams tend to relax, but Ginobili goes and do his thing!!! The big three to have a very tight cover over them are Duncan, Parker and Ginobili, the other one are just role players, and if you think Bowen is a good defender, then you just need to thow an elbow or pissed him to eliminate his defense, not because que scares, because when he is angry he tend to do a lot of stupid things!

And finally for the laker you need a dominant paint play, you have the big man, and a lot of idiots to hit duncan all the game long, if Duncan is going to score, you should go with all the risks, and please do not let Duncan do the "ala" Pippen board shot!! :thefinger If lakers do not adjust their defense to that, they will not even win a game! Kobe can do everything but he knows SA is not a team to beat alone, he needs more help, Shaq can do it, but he needs to improve on Defense, jump fat boy jump!! Devean George looks lazy and like a star, Fox useless, Malone older but with some heart, Payton without heart and injured, Fisher scared like all the rookies!!! Phil use all your rookies please, let them play if you lost at least they will have experience for the next year, and Medvedenko is playing pretty good but no minutes to him!

As a conclusion lakers should be concerned about Parker doubling him and the same to duncan, and do not be relaxed with Ginobili!! he is a quick destructor!

I DISAGREE. Horry did not make 1 3pt shot last year in the playoffs. HE MISSED EVERY SINGLE 3pt shot he took last year. Oh did I mention 90% of Horry's shots were WIDE OPEN treys. I do not think the Lakers miss a guy who went something like 0-20 behind the arc in the playoffs. All open shots.
