Why should 8 Home Game U (Ohio St.), as Big 10 co-champs be guaranteed a Sugar Bowl bid?

What was so impressive with their non-conference wins over Washington (5-6), SDSU (3-6), Bowling Green (6-2), and NC State (6-4)? And all at home?

I guess the Big10 is a good league for them. It lacks talented QB?s, offensive coaches, and schemes.

Aren?t you impressed by Ohio St.? :nooo:

Come on, man! 3 wins without an offensive touchdown. 11 returning starters on Offense , and its a miracle when they get first down. Give them credit, the QB runs a nice draw play, every other down. HEY, they beat mighty Penn St. by 1 pt !!!!!!

I guess I shouldn?t knock their 1-point win against Penn State.....:nono:

They were dazed and confused by not playing at home. Besides that, they beat San Diego State by 3 points. That's triple the margin they had against the Nittany Lions!

Try doing it against good teams! How about try traveling to the West or South! Also, the Big10 has the worst QB?s and offensive players in the country.

Mighty OSU an underdog to Michigan???? No way.

The Number "2" team in the nation is a 6 1/2 point underdog on Saturday?

To me, the team that deserves to go is the team that performs better and plays better football over the course of the season. That was Ohio St's argument against SC last year (i.e., they claimed in college football, it's the WHOLE season that counts, not just the end of the season), and comparing the two team's play over the course of the whole season this year, I find it impossible to conclude Ohio St has performed and played better football over the course of the season. Playing two games at the end cannot change that.

If they do beat Michigan (which is not happening) then they deserve to be #4 behind USC and LSU. No team that just gets by so many lousy teams deserves a shot

The team I saw play in Columbus last Saturday sure wasn't the #2 team in the nation. Neither was the one who ?barely? got by SDSU, NCSU, and PSU, or Bowling Green. A win in the Big House would be impressive, but the only impressive thing they would have done all year.

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have to disagree with you on this - even though I do think USC would beat OSU head on this year.

If Ohio St finishes out the year with these three wins - they deserve the number two spot. USC's schedule just doesn't look as impressive as it did in the begining of the year. That Auburn win looked huge at the time, but I think we have all seen that Auburn is not the team people hoped they would be this year. And as much as you will disagree I'm sure - the Pac Ten is brutal this year in my opinion. Every week I see these Pac Tens fumbling over one another - there just isn't much consistency in that conference.

I think we can argue this forever, but it is not a clear cut as you would like it to be.

osu's schedule is more impressive, the big 10 is much better top to bottom, imo the pac 10 only has wash st. and sc. sc out of confrence isn't impressive either Auburn and Notre Dame were huge disapointments.

LOL!!!Poor Scotty and his Trojans should have thought about playing someone good this year instead of pasting these shitty teams! Sorry...No one is impressed with your drudging of Arizona or any of the other crap that you played all year.

I knew this little pout fest was coming sooner or later.....LOL! Poor Trojans....another year of saying, we were best, but no one will believe it but you.

Almost every game we have played has been against a team in the Top 50 of the nation. Seven games against top notch competition.

So cry it up and hope for help....that is the only way you guys get in is if WE LET YOU!!!!

Personally I'd like to see USC face Michigan this year in the Rose Bowl (as either team would lose to Oklahoma anyways. . . whether SC fans can be unbiased for a second to realize it or not. . . might as well play in a bowl game that you can win!) and LSU play Oklahoma (Tigers will get waxed). At least we'd have a great Rose Bowl game to look forward to! Then we can see if you're right about the Big 10 teams lacking talented QB's, offensive coaching, and schemes.

Here is a question I was posed by a friend and have mixed feelings on:

If Ohio St loses this weekend, do they fall behind TCU in the BCS standings (assuming TCU wins this last one). My gut instinct is no, they will still get a BCS bid and that TCU will not, but some of these rumors of the Fiesta Bowl liking the idea of a potential Texas vs TCU matchup makes a bit of sense to me.

So what do you guys think?

as a pac-10 guy i will throw in my opinion. USC is better than OSU but OSU deserves it if they win. Since OSU has the same number of losses than SC, OSU deserves the right to defend their national title. The pac-10 sucked this year plain and simple. However dont rip on SC's loss at Cal. Cal is scary right now and thats the way they played vs SC.

USC schedule at the beginning of the year looked a lot tougher than Ohio St. A LOT TOUGHER! Not USC fault the teams are all having down years. Also, my post was about the BCS not selecting the #1 and #2 teams in the country. OSU is not the 2nd best team in the country but under the system they most likely will get to play in the NC.

Nickelback

USC very well could beat OU. You are wrong there buddy. OSU is the team that will need 5 + turnovers to beat OU (like they beat Miami last year). Big 10 teams do lack talented QB's, offensive coaching, and schemes. Have you watched the Big 10 this year? Have you watched USC this year?

dr. freeze

USC is the only team in the nation not afraid to play anyone anywhere. Give Pete Carroll and Norm Chow time to prepare, you get what USC did to Iowa! USC can beat OU!

Scott, I really want to give merit to your argument, right until you say USC could beat Oklahoma. Reality check man, NOBODY is gonna beat OU except OU. Miami beat Miami last year not Ohio ST, and thats the only way anyone beats OU this year, to say anyone is a better team than them right now is absurd.

Go Michigan.

Thanks, i appreciate it. I agree, Miami beat Miami last year. OSU was a paper champion last year. They were not the best team in the nation last year and this year they are not the 2nd best team in the nation. Give them credit, they do what they gotta do to get to the NC game but it aint pretty.

Why do I lose credit when I say USC can beat OU. I did not say they will beat OU.

"FACTS"

USC has won 25 of their last 29 games.

USC has only lost by double digits once in the last 3 years. (@ ND by 11pts when USC even blew a lead in that game in Pete Carrolls 1st year)

I think USC will give OU all they can handle and if USC gets healthy (right now really banged up), I think USC has good chance in beating OU.

I don't think OU has seen a team like USC. USC is very fast, skilled players, multiple playmakers, and most of all very well coached. OU has also those same qualities, but I think NORM CHOW knows how to beat the OU defense. OU has not had to defend an offense as balanced and fast as USC all year. USC has faced very good offenses all year in the pac 10 so I think coming into this game USC is more battle tested. YES I KNOW TEXAS IS TALENTED, loads of talent, but Texas cannot even compare to USC right now. Also Texas is a different team now than when OU played them. Also Texas does not hve as strong passing/running game/balance as USC. I think USC can win this game because of their offense. USC has a good defense this year with great DL. I did not say USC will beat OU, i said they can.

see that is where you all are wrong.....

1.) We were the best team in the nation last year...our trophy says so. We won it on the field. And bullshit, Miami gave us the game.....We DOMINATED the game from the beginning to the end. Forced turnovers are part of the game for those of you that have never played.

2.) We are the second best team in the nation right now. The BCS says so, and that is all that matters. Opinions dont really get you a shot at Oklahoma. So until opinions get you in the game....you should read the BCS standings and think of what might have been if you had played someone besides Hamburger U:moon:

The surprising thing is that USC's schedule ranks #16 in the nation according to the computers. Can't see it with their schedule. I don't fault USC for their scheduling because when they scheduled this year, more of the teams looked formidable. That said, they lost and have no right to complain as they forced the computers to decide it.

OU's gonna have some trouble. Nobody that they've played in the Big XII plays defense at all. They are the best team in the nation, but I don't see them as being unbeatable.

WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU GUYS, USC IS EASILY THE SECOND BEST TEAM IN THE NATION! WOW, ALL YOU CAN SAY IS THEY LOST TO CAL (WHO PLAYS THEM TOUGH ALL THE TIME) BESIDES THAT WHAT ELSE CAN YOU SAY....MAYBE THEY WON'T BEAT OKLAHOMA BUT THEY ARE THE ONLY TEAM WHO CAN GIVE THEM A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY AND I ACTUALLY THINK THEY CAN BEAT OKLAHOMA... I DON'T KNOW WHY YOU GUYS LIKE TO HATE ON USC SO MUCH AND MAKE EXCUSES LIKE THEIR STRENGTH OF SCHEDULE ISN'T GOOD AND THEY DON'T PLAY TOUGH TEAMS..WHATEVER..U GUYS ARE RIDICULOUS.
