I'm just trying to figure out when Michigan got so good all of a sudden. IMO they havent beaten one good team all year and they lost to one shit team and one decent team and should have lost when Minnesota ran all over them.

Well, let's see...
First they handed Minnesota their 1st loss (after 8 games) after overcoming a 28 point, 4th quarter defecit...
Then they handed 10th ranked Purdue their 1st league loss (and 2nd overall) by a score of 31-3...
Then they went into East Lansing and again knocked the unbeaten, league leaders off (who were ranked #10).

"should've lost to Minny"?????? Yeah, maybe....shoulda, woulda coulda...but Michigan shoulda beat Oregon and coulda beat Iowa which woulda made them undefeated right now which woulda made them #2 in the BCS!

Has Ohio St. faced a team like USC offensively? The answer is NO and not even close. So how good is that Ohio St. defense? Very good but I think mainly because they play in the Big 10. The Big 10 is a horrible offensive conference. So just maybe, maybe their defense looks so strong because they play in the Big 10 and are always playing @ HOME. That helps too you know, always playing at home.

That great defense did give up 24pts to NC ST. @ Home in regulation, then gave up 14 more pts in OT. USC offense is a lot better than NC ST. and better coached. I do not find it hard for USC to put up 30+ pts against Ohio St. Against Purdue when Purdue was not going conservative and had to make plays for that final drive, they drove down the field and scored a TD. They did this on the road and drove the length of the field. Purdue and NC ST. both hve good/great offenses, but none can compare to the coaching and talent of the USC offense. You know that.

OSU has great defense, especially designed for the Big 10. Remember, Big 10 is not a great offensive conference. USC defense would thrive in the Big 10 because it is not a passing conference. If there is a place to attack the USC defense it is the passing game. Who has a great passing game in the Big 10????
THink about it. OSU does have a great defense, but have they faced and offense like USC and can they stop it?

Michigan St and Minnesota are not good teams those 2 defenses are terrible and Purdue is a decent team. You can say shoulda woulda coulda all you want but the fact is they lost 2 games. I mean if you want to look at it like that if my Gators didnt lose 3 games they would be #1 but they did. Michigan isnt even the best 2 loss team in the country.

scott:

ill be glad to use your own logic against you.

osu's defense is dominant because they play in a weak offensive conference?

perhaps.

ever stop to think that usc's offense looks so impressive because they play in a joke of a defensive conference?

this is weird. defending ohio state is something i never thought id be doing. but facts are facts and i pride myself in objectivity, no matter how much i dislike osu.

btw- for comparisons sake, usc scored 23 points on auburn's defense, which is solid but not as good as ohio state's. that just shows that youre probably -- with a good offense -- gonna score about 20-24 points on ohio state tops. over 30 just aint gonna happen.

re: the ncstate game. it wasnt like rivers came out and went crazy right from the start. bucks were up 24-7 with 8:00 left in the game. at that point rivers had done nothing. but he was gutty and led a nice comeback.

theres really not much more to it.
usc has an excellent offense. osu has an excellent defense. usc is probably 5-7 points better than ohio state.

as far as coaching, its a toss-up. the only part of the osu program that i like is tressel. to me, the only coach in the country thats better than him is stoops.

we could go back and forth.

do you realize that only like 3 teams have scored more than 21 points against ohio state in 3 YEARS under tressel?

like i said, a far better miami team (in comparison to usc this yr) managed 17 points in regulation vs osu.

like i said, im as anti-osu as anyone youll find. but good defense is good defense. and you simply dont drop 30 point games on tressels defense

You are forgetting something about that 23-0 USC win over AU. It was @ AU and USC was starting a SOPH. QB with zero game experience. THat was VERY VERY impressive by USC. OSU doesn't even know how to play on the road. They never travel west or south. Playing so many home games gives you huge advantage.

Good point in that is USC offense only great because they play in Pac 10 with weak defenses. ummmm, yes and no. WSU and AU both have really good defenses. ND also has a good defense as well. USC also played ND and AU on road. The point is USC puts up the #'s regardless who they play. Something great teams do.

I think you bring up good arguments, but OSU has a great defense. BUT, my point is this.

Is it because they play soooo many home games? (yes)

Is it because they play in Big 10 which is not a good offensive conference? (yes)

Has OSU played against an offense like USC? (no)

Is it unlikely USC could score 30pts against OSU? (no)

Now if USC played AT OSU, then you can make an argument that USC might score under 30. Last year USC had a better team than Miami. Remember, Miami did not play as tough schedule as USC.

I think PETE CARROLL is the best coach in the nation, or I should say will become the best coach in the nation. Watch! Stoops and Tressel i prob. say are ahead because they both won NC and run very solid programs, but remember, this is only Carrolls 3rd year at USC. He out recruits everyone in the nation and watch out for USC. He woke up the sleeping giant!

This USC team we are debating about is and I quote from Pete Carroll "we are just getting started." So if USC is just getting started and currently are contending for NC's back to back years, what in the future for USC football? Dominance. All the schools in Florida fear Carroll because he is taking their talent away. No schools take top notch FL talent on regular basis and that is what Carroll is doing. Very scary what is happening at USC now. I might be sounding like homer now (maybe upsetting most of you), but what i am saying is all true. Look up recruiting rankings and then look at how Carroll develops the talent (most important thing). USC only loses 4 seniors who will be missed. This is a very very young USC football team that is dominating right now. Oh yeah, Norm Chow is also our OC! (maybe the best OC in college football who is not leaving USC because he is currently buying a house in Los Angeles).

FIGHT ON!!!!!!!!!!!

Who cares about their win @ Auburn. Auburn obviously isn't as good as most projected.

God you can't look at anything objectively. I can't stand Ohio State but I won't dismiss the fact they are deserving of being in the mix as well as LSU. I have ties to none of these teams but I'm looking at it fair & balanced while you are looking at it through Homer Vision.

Yeah we are all scared of mighty USC, please shut up with this crap already. USC has done jackshit the last few years. How many titles have they won of late? How many titles have been won or competed for by these Florida teams in the last decade?

You missed the argument. USC is just getting started. So take out what has happened the last whatever years. USC is just getting started. Pete Carroll has only been at USC 3 years.

USC has been poorly coached the last 15 years. Look what happend when USC finally hired a great coach. I am now a believer that coaching is the most important thing in having a successfull program. USC always had talent, but horrible coaching. Now USC has unbelievable talent and unbelievable coaching.

This is not homer vision, this is what is happening at USC.

Hell, you act like Pete Carroll is the second coming of Jesus Christ!! He hasn't done anything yet. Paper fool, that is all you are talking about. Do something, beat somebody, and then you can talk.

BOW DOWN TO THE ALMIGHTY PETE CARROLL!! HE KNOWS AND DOES ALL!! I HAVE SCOTT UNDER MY SPELL!!!

Skipper and Mr. Hockey why don't you guys just put Scott on your ignore list. You could tell him that OSU would have an extra player on the field for each play against USC and he would find a way to spin it his way. The guy is a joker and if he keeps up his crap he won't be around on this site much longer. Believe me!

Scott you make USC fans look worse than Buckeye fans. I mean you are such a homer I want to slap you so you can wake up from your sick delusional dream.

News Flash for you buddy, Tressel won the NC in his second year so we don't need to hear your crap about Carroll only being in his Third year. OHHhhhhhhh he is just getting started. Well welcome to the party then pal, cause Oklahoma, Miami, OSU, and many others have been here for years. Now that your team made from the hand of god can compete year in and year out lets see how they can do. We can start with this season: Loss to CAL, shut out a crappy Auburn, played a horrible BYU, HAwaii, and ND, and competed in the weak Pac-10. They may have some sick talent, but so did Miami last year. How many of those players were drafted in the first round last year? And the Bucks still handled them. And if your rebuttle is Miami turned it over 5 times and the refs made a bad call than you are just showing your ignorance, because OSU WON that game with D and a solid game plan.

OSU has played 7 teams that were ranked when each game was played, USC played 2 and Auburn was overrated beyond belief. Facts are, homer supreme, you are the biggest homer this site has probably ever seen (other than JS Smooth), and its a pity that you are dictating these arguments.

My argument here is not that OSU is better than USC, but they 100% deserve that #2 ranking in the BCS. Face it that USC is not the only good team in the country, because there are plenty others out there that compete with much tougher teams and do much better. Get over it and stop being such a damn homer.

Go Bucks

I agree with Moe & I am a huge SC fan.

Scott, why dont you just listen to what Mike Williams said in the Daily News:

"Who cares?" Williams said. "The BCS is not as important as UCLA. I don't have any argument with the BCS because we didn't take care of business and beat Cal. Us as a team, the program and fans shouldn't have anything to say about it. We had our opportunity to leave no doubt and we didn't. I'm probably the only one who will say what no one else wants to hear."

My argument was OSU is not the 2nd best team in the nation. They will be #2 in BCS if they win this Sat. That does not mean they are the 2nd best team in the nation. Until OSU dominates opponents and does "need" fluke turnovers/plays to win ball games, then I will continue to think of them as a good team, but not a great team. Home Game U should also schedule some west coast and southern teams on the road like every other team in the nation and earn the respect of the country. I would rank OSU #4 in the country behind OU, USC and LSU. There is a reason the polls have OSU #4 because they see what I see.

Sorry, i could care less if you think I am a homer. Makes no difference to me.

Scott- You already are on ignore, jackass! Check with the administrator, you have been on ignore for over week if you bothered to check but that would be too difficult for you to do with your 21 year old brain.:moon:

You constantly make up stuff about USC. Trying to tell me that Norm Chow makes almost 1 million per year. How about he makes 500,000 and already has talked with U. of A. because his son and wife still live in Utah and don't want to move to LA. Trying to tell me that he told Booty that he would be their for his 4 years. What a load of crap, maybe Booty will leave before his 4 years are up, there is no loyalty in sports in case you have not figured that out.

Man, are these USC rants hard to stomach or what? I also missed the Pete Carroll indoctrination. The guy turned into Knute Rockne/John Wooden overnight.

Like it or not, OSU wins in Ann Arbor, they're in the title game and deservedly so. Defending champs, only one unbeaten team, they will be the rightful opponent for OU.

By the way, the Big 10's offenses are no where near as bad as the Pac-10's defenses.

Why don't you do what you preach and put me on "your" ignore list and leave my debates/threads alone. Your posts and opinions are worthless to me. You never post anything productive and always lash out at me. Get a clue, I do not care about what you think about me and its sad you try and recruit others not to reply to my threads.

I was told Chow got a raise after last year and big signing bonus close to 1million in total. Maybe i was wrong, but I am pretty confident he makes at least $750k including signing bonus. Chow makes more than most head coaches do in the country. CHow also was WITH his family last week searching for homes in Los Angeles. It was in the newpaper. Please continue to try and prove me wrong and call me names. It weakens your argument and shows no class. :nono:
